BEIJING - Chinese authorities are testing millions of people, imposing lockdowns and shutting down schools after multiple locally transmitted coronavirus cases were discovered in three cities across the country last week.
As temperatures drop, large-scale measures are being enacted in the cities of Tianjin, Shanghai and Manzhouli, despite the low number of new cases compared to the United States and other countries that are seeing new waves of infections.
China has resorted to its heavy, top-down approach each time new cases of local transmission are found - shutting down schools and hospitals, locking down residential communities and entire neighborhoods, and testing millions.
China’s approach to controlling the pandemic has been criticized for being draconian.
“In the entire world, only China has the ability to get to zero. Other countries don’t have this ability,” Zeng Guang, the chief epidemiologist at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a webinar hosted by Chinese media in September. “It’s not just getting to zero, even for them to control the first wave of the epidemic is hard.”
“‘Clearing to zero’ is actually the most economically effective way to do epidemic prevention. If you don’t do that, then this problem will get more troublesome,” he said. “Use a heavier hand, and get to zero, then people will feel reassured.”

Along those lines, I believe Joe Biden is planning to revive our economy by shutting down our economy for 6 weeks. This stuff makes a lot of sense -- if you're a communist.
No wai! We were told China had totally defeated the virus!
I’d wager everything I own that China’s actual policy (rather than their PR policy) is to let the virus loose. So what if it kills 100 million 85 year olds! They just prevent people from be able to work 14 hours a day 6 days a week...for $1.50 an hour...in the country’s millions of sweat shops.
I hate to see anyone DIE from this, but quite frankly, I’m rooting for the virus to take hold in China and bring that country to its KNEES for a few months, crash their economy, etc. Would love to see it run rampant through the Chinese military and top leadership. They need to really FEEL the pain they have inflicted on the rest of the world.
Prayers for China’s citizens, the average Joe who is at the mercy of his government.
