"On May 22, 2020, the United States exercised its right pursuant to paragraph 2 of Article XV of the Treaty on Open Skies by providing notice to the Treaty Depositaries and to all States Parties of its decision to withdraw from the Treaty, effective six months from the notification date," State Department deputy spokesman Cale Brown said in a statement.

"Six months having elapsed, the U.S. withdrawal took effect on November 22, 2020, and the United States is no longer a State Party to the Treaty on Open Skies," Brown added.

The post-Cold War agreement was struck to allow nations to conduct flyovers of other allies in an attempt to collect military data and other intelligence on neighboring foreign enemies.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) called the administration's withdrawal "reckless" and encouraged President-elect Joe Biden's administration to rejoin the pact once he is inaugurated.

Media: “Oh but see, this is really Putin getting exactly what HE wants because it’ll stop U.S. flyovers of Russia. Trump’s just doing what the guy who put him in office wants him to do.”

I’m sure Biden the Russian stooge will move the US right back in. Beware the jealousy of the jilted courtier. Bolton and McMaster are basically scumbags who let their own egos get in the way of re-electing a President who stands up for the Stars and Stripes. Now they will get, in Biden, someone who bends the knee not just to Antifa and BLM, but to every foreign country on the planet. When congratulations are being issued for the success of the Iranian A-bomb project, Bolton and McMaster ought to get Thank You letters.

I don't get it. With this treaty we could fly over Poland and collect data about Russia without Poland's permission? I doubt it.

McMaster and Bolton are peace through strength guys. Trump is a peace through strength president. Whereas the entire Democratic party has been a peace through weakness and appeasement organization ever since Truman abandoned Nationalist China to the Communists in 1949. For McMaster and Bolton to side with yet another appeaser, in an era of BLM and Antifa, is unforgivable.

encouraged President-elect Joe Biden's administration to rejoin the pact once he is inaugurated.

Should that be if he is elected?

Wow, imagime that, letting the enemy guess is probably why it does not attack, but embrace the advocates of disarmament, world socialism and peace (so called) infringe on your common sense, it is not like your enemy knowing where your weapon stash never always tempted it to attack and create a war like the Maginot line did...

Was a scam. Our sattelites are good enough.

These treaties are like the French Maginot line, by specifically telling the enemy where our weapons are, it helps it evade them and gives it a ready plan of attack. Maginot treaties like these invite war and invasions.
