Believe it or not, even in 1861 there were also plenty of Republicans eager to "compromise" and appease treasonous Democrats!
Just as today, nobody then knew how things would turn out, but then as now we had a leader who'd stand firm for principle and our Constitution.

One difference: I don't think the press and "Big Tech" of 1861 were as uniformly anti-American as today.

It’s funny how you can see some modern similarities to 1861 but a corrupt big city cartel trying to control the power of Washington DC isn’t one of them.
