British Columbia is making it mandatory to wear masks in public spaces while social interactions will be under new restrictions until Dec. 7 because of a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry earlier imposed restrictions on social gatherings in areas covered by the Fraser and Vancouver Coastal health authorities, but says COVID-19 is spreading to other places and the order will now be provincewide.
Henry says the previous measures have failed to decrease the number of cases and the health-care system is under strain.

BTW, the hospital I work at is FAR from overwhelmed. Last I checked, there were fewer than 5 hospital cases in my “Health Authority”, NONE in the ICU.
Like wearing masks? Maybe everybody should wear two.
What I find most revealing about this is that *OF COURSE* there will be more cases detected, WE ARE TESTING MORE PEOPLE!!!
The number of folks actually DYING from this has remained relatively stable at well under 1.5% OF THE HOSPITALIZED!
NOT the positives, not the sick, but ONLY those hospitalized, and it’s the ICU cases that die, not the general inpatient.
It’s ALL a flipping lie, and all we can do is watch
Every day I go to Langley from the States - no shortage of Karens up there already, but I see the pubs are open.
Seems the mask infection has spread above the 49th.
I’m from Vancouver. That’s why I left that stupid city, it’s San Fran North. I dont know why you go to Langley but they have better strip clubs (j/k)
Indeed it has. The warehouse I buy a large proportion of my food from decided to make masks mandatory for entry about 3 weeks ago, so I told the doorman (really!) that’s fine, I will shop elsewhere until this unreasonable demand is rescinded. Now the local Costco has joined the Karen brigade. I may end up starving to death. I will NOT comply!
Langley is rational compared to Vancouver. Kitsilano and Point Grey are Woke-Karen central.
Here on Vancouver Island, the Karenocracy is strongest in Oak Bay.
I was kicked out of Costco last weekend in northern Alberta even though there’s no provincial mandate. As I was trying to go in a bunch of women descended on me and some security guy. I hadn’t had a problem prior to this. I will not comply. I will shop somewhere else.
Just stop the testing unless someone has symptoms. We never tested everybody for SARS nor other viruses......this testing is way overblown.
I am just SO tired of this nonsense, and I am honestly NOT much impacted personally, as I am a shift worker and seldom interact with people. At least until now. But seeing what this is doing to my friends and acquaintances is BRUTAL!
We’re all tired of it and it’s not going to stand much longer. I noted today a lot of people weren’t wearing masks in a large department store even though it’s “ordered” now here in Pa. ....and the number of people refusing to comply is growing.
Now that they know how to treat it with medications people just want to get on with living...and they will.
DEFIANCE, not compliance!
I only go to Kits and Pt Grey during the summer due to the “beach” (or inlet whatever) when I was growing up. I wont go there unless I have business because the people who live there have an “Im better than you” attitude which pisses me off..
