Allegheny County health officials Wednesday said they are encouraging residents to stay put for Thanksgiving due to the alarming increased rate of positive COVID-19 tests.
It is not an official order. But, it is an advisory, which means it is not enforced.
The western Pennsylvania county has seen an alarming spike in positive test results in COVID-19, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said.
Clarification: Allegheny County’s Dr. Bogen says the stay-at-home guidance is an advisory, not an order (Order is enforced). Still, she’s asking people to use their best personal judgment and follow the advice to stay home. “We really must do this today,” she said. — Luis Fabregas (@LuisTrib) November 18, 2020
“We really need people this year to stay home,” Fitzgerald said. “We’re going to ask that you work with just your household individuals.”
Mitigation efforts are taken seriously when going to work, school, or after-school activities, but when individuals get home, Fitzgerald said people are letting their guard down.
The county plans on protecting residents using data, case investigators, science, and technology.
“The rate of rise and the total number of cases of COVID-19 in Allegheny County remain very concerning,” said Director of the Allegheny County Health Department Debra Bogen. “The total number of cases per week has increased from about 800 in mid-October to more than 2,500 cases this week. And, this represents more than a tripling of cases in just a month. This increase, if sustained, threatens our health systems. More people are being hospitalized and after a few weeks at these levels, we can stress our hospital system, including not having enough health care workers.”

NO, you ridiculous propagandists! It's a PERFECTLY UNDERSTANDABLE increased rate.
It's the freaking cold and flu season, remember that? People with cold and flu symptoms are going in for tests to see if they might have COVID. Some of them do.
As has been the case since the beginning of this, the more people you test, the more cases you find.
Due to election trouble
Yes, we’re really letting our guard down at home by interacting normally with our own families and stuff.
Can’t make this stuff up.

Who says ‘Rats can’t create three letter memes like J-O-B-S?
Yep!
The hospitals have had months and months to prepare.
If they didn’t everyone else is being asked to bear the burden our their incompetence.
They were laying off personnel during the months of postponed elective surgeries.
The people needing such surgeries didn't simply disappear.
They're back...as is the seasonal flu.
Viruses do what viruses do.
We are really POWERLESS to eradicate them.
Only the delusional believe that 6 foot circles, masks, shortened hours, etc, etc will make Covid1984 pack up and go home to Wuhan.
From Dr. Redfield, Dir. CDC
‘’We’re seeing, sadly, far greater suicides now than we are deaths from Covid. We’re seeing far greater deaths from drug overdose, that are above excess, than we had as background, than we are seeing deaths from Covid.”
Certain cold causing viruses will cause false positives on Covid tests.
