Nuzzlin’ joe and superspreader carmela will want to bring that to a screeching halt. No coal for you! Guess they’ll be the coal naughtZees?

The power-train and battery technology incorporated in the Tesla branded vehicle is applicable in other venues. An electric storage battery substitution for a straight gas turbine peaker-plant appears to have become competitive. Any opinion of the valuation trend of Tesla from the non-automotive perspective?

Someone on facebook argued that more people are employed in solar than coal. 250,000 currently. Coal mining employs 53,714. Coal produces 30% of U.S. electrical power (plus other forms of energy to spare) solar, a mere 1%. That means it takes 250,000 x 30/53,714 ~ 140 more times labor to produce a kWh with solar than with coal.

This could be the defining example of a modern luddite. By that reasoning outlaw petroleum fueled farm equipment, and we could go back to the halcyon days when 90% of U.S. labor was engaged in agriculture.

I didn't realize how dependent the Australians were on coal for electrical generation.
I knew that one of their major trading partners was China, who wanted their coal.
When the Chinese got chastised about the covid virus by Australian authorities,
they got huffy and threatened to buy their beef and coal elsewhere.
I don't know if that has come to fruition yet,
but I now realize that coal is one of their major exports.

Right !
Those were the 'horse and buggey days' , as I recall.
When vendors and horse drawn wagons went up and down the street calling out their wares.
That fits in with the Democrat party slogan.

There is a new approach in electrical generating plants fueled by natural gas and/or coal, which will bring efficiency and clean operation up to the highest tier. The first commissioning of a coal fired commercial plant could occur by 2026. A NG fueled facility presents less development and could be available in the 2022 to 2023 period.

Can’t even touch it.
The saddest part is when the batteries need to be replaced. Greenies make more, and more expensive, problems than they solve. They don’t actually solve anything, just rearrange the furniture creating other problems.

Factor in the cost of replacing the battery system.

And the disposal of the old batteries.

It doesn’t factor in the value of feeling morally superior. THAT is priceless!

Makes me feel better all over than any place else.

Bought 98 octane (premium) yesterday in Perth at 1.15/liter.

That is .84 USD/litre
3.785 l/gallon (US)

I paid 3.18 per gallon of premium fuel in US Dollars

BTW 98 octane here is the same as premium there. It was effectively Mobile/Exxon as that is what Costco carries here.

Keep in mind that shrimp-on-the-barbie - land is one of the most expensive places on earth to purchase electricity. Of course the superchargers (no, not that kind) are going to cost more to top off than gasoline.
