The Michigan AG files an emergency application in State Court to compel these two dullards to certify the election. If they refuse, it’s then contempt of court - prison & monetary fines until they comply.

The choice is between:

1. Going to jail for a short time because you didn’t certify votes

2. Being convicted for treason and executed

Can the AG compel legislators to certify an election?

The threat of this kind of a lawsuit against two niggardly paid bureaucrats is a real threat. The legal fees would run 20 x their salary.

More to the point, however, the only question is whether their determination not to certify is "reasonable," e.g. based upon facts and valid inferences therefrom. Any nitwit can deduce that a stringent audit of this election in Wayne county is necessary.

A judge cannot substitute his opinion for someone else in who discretion has been reposed. In other words, the judge can't actually certify the election or compel the county bureaucrat to certify the election, especially if the bureaucrat says this is all fishy and we need an audit.

That's just exercising his due diligence on behalf of the actual voters.

Oh, and where is Bagpipes?

I don’t think compelling these two to certify the election will be that easy. Something tells me they have a legal right not to if they choose.

"Republican municipal bureaucrats Monica Palmer and William Hartmann refuse to recognize the will of the voters in the county home to Michigan's largest city, which happens to be overwhelmingly Black."

Notice that this is why they alway cheat in "overwhelming black" cities. They get to use the race card.

They have no obligation to certify if they feel that there has been fraud (and boy, was there ever). Tell her to pound sand.

Discretion is reposed in them, not the AG.

That's my take.

Certifying in the face of overwhelming evidence of fraud is just as much an abuse of discretion as failure to certify in the absence of and reasonable basis for believing fraud occurred [clearly not the case here as any reasonable person can attest].

Wow. Where there is smoke there is fire. Something is definitely wrong here. Does this ever happen in elections?

Okay, at the end of the day, did they or did they not certify the election?

Ah, didn’t they already certify? I heard they caved like ten minutes after they got some pressure.

Why bother having commissioners when you can just have a judge make their decisions for them?

Why are any other decision-making positions even needed in government when judges make all decisions?

Bill Barr is not the AG of Michigan. States run elections.
