I think the appointment of a conservative justice was on;y one option. I think the excellent strategist that he is would consider several scenarios and have a plan for each. As a lawyer, I do know that the best case is the one you see coming right at you and set it up the way you want - in other words, a trap.

Republican office holders still hold to the belief that there will be future fair elections. Boy are they in for a surprise.
The Patriot Act and subsequent executive orders give the President almost unlimited dictatorial powers in the event of an attack on the United States. If Trump decides to exercise those powers to help US Marshals arrest the foreign-paid malefactors for staging and coordinating this attack, I don't think any whining media figures could stop him.
I feel the same and can’t explain it, either except I trust in God.

Politics does not happen on a 4d chess level. Politics is not even checkers, it's more like Tic Tac Toe but without all the complicated strategy. Politics happens at the third grade recess level and no higher. It's a WYSIWYG arena. If it appears the DOJ and Barr are not doing anything. It's because THEY AREN'T DOING ANYTHING.
