Kavanaugh, Roberts Signal Inclination to Keep Obamacare Alive

Two key U.S. Supreme Court justices indicated they are inclined to uphold the bulk of the Affordable Care Act as the court weighed the fate of a landmark law that provides health-insurance to 20 million people.

Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh both suggested during oral arguments Tuesday that they won’t vote to strike down the entire law even if the court invalidates a provision that requires people to acquire insurance. A key question is whether the court would “sever” that so-called individual mandate so that the rest of the law remains intact.

Here we go again. Roberts will always side with liberals. Hell, he gave us ObamaCare to start with, but Kavanaugh stabbing Trump in the back. I didn’t trust him from the minute I saw him. He’ll turn into another wasted Republican-appointed Supreme Court pick.

Are they going to rule on who pays for it? No taxpayer money should support it if they rule it stays alive.

LOL, did anyone really think it would be different? It’s seems like Kavanaugh and Gorsuch will vote to keep ACA.

I'm OK with it, I think. Congress can set up some kind of insurance system. No one can force you to accept it.

Trump is hoping to come up with some kind of insurance system. He won't force you to take it, I'm pretty sure.

We must never forget that with repeal of Obamacare in the balance the GOP campaigned for progressive Democrat Doug Jones in Alabama to fill Sessions’ seat. McCain was only the deciding vote on obamacare because the GOP nom was not supported by his own party in the race.

Is Bloomberg a good, trustful conservative news source all of a sudden? You know what? I’m going to wait for the actual decision to come down before I get all wee-wee’d up.

Don’t read too much into the questions. They can make it unconstitutional and let congress start over.

How is he stabbing Trump in the back. Kavanaugh and Gorsuch were Anthony Kennedy clerks/disciples. They were always going to act like Anthony Kennedy judges. To be surprised at that is ridiculous. They are exactly as advertised.

How many times have we been warned not to read too much into a Justices questioning ???

All that matters are the rulings.

Honestly, I can’t see them tossing O-Care without another system in place. If Congress had done their job and killed the whole thing this is a dead issue.

I'm with you, FRiend.

I don't trust him on guns, and my gut said he'd become another Souter once he settled in.

Didn't even take that long, did it?

Give Kavanaugh two years and he’ll be in the Dem Voting Bloc.

Notice the Dems always Vote together.

Wonder if Kavanaugh and Roberts have an inclination to for the country to have fair elections?

They can make it unconstitutional and let congress start over.

So it goes away and gets replaced by nothing. That has good points and not-so-good points. Pre-existing coverage goes away. Keeping adult kids on their parents policy goes away. Caps on coverage payout comes back. Higher premiums based on sex come back. The subsidies that millions of people get goes away. It won't impact me but I'm sure others will be hurting.
