Olive Garden's Free Meal on Veterans Day 2020
The Spruce ^ | 11/10/20 | Stacy Fisher

Posted on 11/10/2020 8:38:27 AM PST by Dr. Scarpetta

There are lots of businesses giving out Veterans Day freebies and discounts, plus restaurants that give out free meals on Veterans Day. Olive Garden is one of those that are participating in 2020.

Eligible customers who come into an Olive Garden on Veterans Day can get a completely free meal paid in full by the restaurant, which includes an entrée from a special Veterans Day menu, plus unlimited soup or salad and garlic breadsticks to round out the meal.

Restaurants that commonly give out a similar Veterans Day offer include Texas Roadhouse, T.G.I. Friday's, Red Robin, Denny's, Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, O'Charley's, Red Lobster, Golden Corral, BJ's, IHOP, and Applebee's.

“You'll need to verify with Olive Garden that you currently are or used to be in the military. Proof of military service may vary from each restaurant that offers a Veterans Day free meal.”

As a veteran I don’t want a free meal. I want free and honest elections in my country.

Ah. Fake Italian. Good for them for the respecting our service personnel. I will therefore avoid anymore criticism of their food.

I want people who say thank you for your service to just keep it and say “I walked out of the stadium/Arena at the game when a player showed outward disrespect for the Flag

While I appreciate the gesture, America's veterans do not need hand outs.

After what our country just went through I totally agree. They can take their damn free meals and give them to “undocumented” immigrants or bushy bunned momma’s basement boys for all I care. I’m proud of my service but not of the USA. Sorry, not this year.

(Air Force pilot with 5-1/2 years service ‘68 through ‘73, the majority of the time in Southeast Asia.)

Oh, yeah - and with 10+ years service a Law Enforcement chaplain a suggestion: Knock off the “Thank you for your service” stuff. You have no idea what these young kids had to go through - I do. Much better to say “Welcome home”.

I applaud Olive Garden and other restaurants who honor our veterans. It’s a nice gesture and should be appreciated.

While I appreciate the thought behind the gesture, I will not avail myself of it.

I do not believe I deserve special treatment because of my time in the military or my time in law enforcement.

Ah. Fake Italian.

When I was in the Air Force I went TDY (Temporary Duty) to Italy 2-3 times. At restaurants off base I'd usually order spaghetti or pizza. Spaghetti would come with a plate full of spaghetti and a silver dollar size blob of sauce. It was never enough sauce. Authentic may not be better.

Pizza was amazing. You'd place your order and they'd cook it in a brick oven or something and it would come out in about 5 minutes - and good!

Thank you. The vet discounts and such are nice and I appreciate them, but what good are they if we have to live in a country without freedom, integrity, morality or honesty? What did we serve for if not to defend our way of life in a good and decent country with enduring principles?

I want our country back.

Any veteran would want the free & honest elections, but we’ll probably have to put up a fight for that one. Might better take the free meal first & maybe build up the strength for the election fight. Does anyone know if Perkins is included in the free meal list? We don’t have any of those listed in our town except Chili’s & one bad experience there was enough.

G1. No man I served with at CCS, MACVSOG wanted handouts. We wanted our fellow SF man to live through very difficult OPS. I feel bad for our Montagnards and other INDIG as those men faced incredible odds plus they were almost always on the short end. May God bless them.
