If Pennsylvania comes down to the last state that would determine which candidate gets to 270 electoral votes, the PA legislature could deflect any accusations of partisanship by refusing to vote a slate of electors for EITHER major candidate. Instead, they could vote for the electors of the Libertarian Party candidate -- which would mean neither Biden nor Trump gets the necessary 270 EVs and the president is then elected through a special vote in the House of Representatives.
Lots of money changing hands..EH?
But I agree with you.
I hypothesized something like that in September.
Here is a new theory on how the Democrats will steal the election without resorting to massive vote fraud.Democrats will politically refuse to certify elections in states where President Trump wins but Democrats control.
Here's an example...
What if in 2016, Trump lost Pennsylvania (20 EV) and Wisconsin (10 EV)? That would have made the Electoral College 276-262, and Trump would still have won.
Now suppose that Michigan (16 EV), which Trump won 47.6% to 47.4%, politically chose to delay certifying the vote and not send their Electors to the Electoral College. This would have made the Electoral Vote 262-260 Clinton in an Electoral College with only 522 appointed Electors. The threshold to win would have been a majority of APPOINTED Electors, or 262.
Clinton would have won in 2016 in this scenario, because Michigan chose to withhold their 16 Trump Electors from participating in the Electoral College.
We need to be on the lookout for this scenario in 2020. We need to watch for Democrat-controlled states that refuse to certify their Trump wins to manipulate the Electoral College for Biden.
It's funny how the same three states are in play now with shenanigans going on.
Personally, I'd prefer to see the state legislature stand up for their people and take care of business directly instead of punting it to the House of Representatives where yet another body has the time to plot yet another end-around.
