The special House election is not a single vote of the entire House. Each of the 50 states gets one vote based on how their House delegations are split between Democrats and Republicans. And even though the Democrats have a wide margin in the overall House, Republican House members outnumber Democrats in at least 26 of the 50 states.

The Dems’ House margin is much smaller now. GOP was slated to lose up to 20 seat. It defended every one and picked up at least six thus far.
