Sen. Hawley vows to introduce legislation protecting election integrity

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said Thursday that he would introduce election integrity legislation, noting that confusion surrounding the 2020 presidential election warranted the need for reform.

"If last 24 hrs have made anything clear, it’s that we need new election integrity laws NOW," he tweeted. "Ban ballot harvesting, guarantee poll watcher access, make ballot counting transparent. I will introduce."

Republicans, throughout the election season, have raised concerns about aggregating ballots through "ballot harvesting," as well as the way Republican poll watchers were allegedly deterred at election sites.

Two days after Election Day, neither candidate had amassed the votes needed to win the White House. But Biden’s victories in the Great Lakes states left him at 264, according to the Fox News Decision Desk, meaning he was one battleground state away from becoming president-elect.

Ha ha.
Horse, barn door, and certain persons are decidedly uninterested.

Determined cheaters will make any “election integrity” legislation laughable even if enacted.

If you have crooked players at a poker game, there is _no_ way to stop them from cheating without removing them from the game.

Make election cheating a capital crime—and then _maybe_ it could get under control.

I agree, life in prison with no parole or pardon possible,or treated as treason, a bullet in the back of the head. It won’t be so much fun then.

Is there anything more worthless than a Republican Senator?

Let's start by enforcing some simple rules:
state-issued ID required
must register by a certain date
absentee ballots for limited reasons
election is one day only

If you can't abide by these rules, you aren't serious enough to deserve to vote

Elections have consequences. It is our elected state legislators, secretary’s of state , and attorneys general who enact and enforce election laws. Wake up, Congress and the courts are not your friends.

It always made me very mad that nothing like this was passed when the republicans controlled everything. They will never get such a bill passed now and they know it.

I know Senator Hawley wasn’t there until 1/19 but the GOPe had the house, senate and PDJT from Jan ‘17-Jan ‘19. They squandered a golden opportunity.

Do you get why we hate swamp creatures?

Horse has left the barn and disappeared over the horizon. The barn has burned down. Republicans are at Ace Hardware shopping for a lock.

Yes, here we go. Republicans already using this situation to make a name for themselves, and more importantly, to raise campaign cash. I think most Republicans like being in the minority so they don’t have to actually do anything, but they can scare us all with stories of what the Dems will do if we don’t vote R. It’s looking more and more like a giant scam perpetrated on us.

I saw that Tucker interview, I have zero doubt out of respect of Hawley that Tucker didn’t bust up laughing.
