Despite people being stuck at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, viewership of the 2020 presidential election coverage on Tuesday was down by a whopping 20% compared to 2016, according to Nielsen estimates.
About 56.9 million tuned in across 21 networks during the primetime hours of 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. EDT this year as votes poured in for Joe Biden and President Trump.
Thats a far cry from the 71.4 million people who watched during that same time frame in 2016, when Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the presidential race.

they’re streaming. the TV ratings for everything is down 20%
Because there are far better commentators out there who have internet-based channels.
+++++
Yes indeed. You saved me some typing. The wifey and I watched Freeper LS over the web and cast the stream to our TV.
LS was great.
I don’t have cable or satellite or anything else for that matter.
I am fully informed by using this site and others. And some radio. Who needs to watch elitist know-nothings caked in makeup parroting an agenda fed to them through earpieces?
Because Foxnews sucks.
Had them on for 5 minutes before I had to turn them off. Never again will I watch Fox.
Beat me to it. Lots of good live streamers now.
Wev were watching RightSide election night. They were doing it with TheFirst...
Freeper LS?
Cable cutters. It’s mostly junk on the TV, even the premium channels. Repetitious, and nobody likes commercials.
I can’t stomach watching the TV networks.
I watched the election unfold on Free Republic.
Maybe some of them can just fkn hang themselves in janitors closets.
Calling Captain Obvious. I’m in the biz and every show from last year’s productions have already been or are currently shown. The Mandalorian series wrapped in December and barely made it to editing, as an example.
Like them or not...
FNC and FOX (network) combined, had over 17 million viewers.
That’s about 4 times what NBC had, and about 3 times what ABC got.
The liberal networks are not pulling in the viewers anymore for important news events. (FOX may go that same way by the next presidential election).
Maybe because it’s just too darn stressful to watch the news!
I was streaming Baris/Scheikert, Bannon and newsmax. And following here on the FR election thread. All were excellent.
I would not watch TV news if you put a gun to my head.
Did you say Corona virus? Thats so last week.
I am not in the biz but in the town, and yes there will soon be nothing left to watch. I know because I’ve watched just about all of them (though I have no real patience for formulaic episodic television anymore and just won’t watch commercials). I know they are slowly getting back into production with lots of new and expensive protocols and hired “virology” experts on set. But who knows if they won’t get shut down again for another six months if this “spike” continues.

HA!
Who wants to watch back to back hypothetical opinions or the Hammer map - again...Fox News elders who have learned nothing the last 11 years but regurgitating past elections. Some elders notably less moderate, not calling a spade a spade, were actually dishonest...because they don’t like this POTUS...barely brought themselves to give phrase where the Trump successes were amazing. The smear & fear campaign of the left was also numbing.....
