Liberal California Emigrants are Toxic
American Thinker.com ^ | November 5, 2020 | R. Quinn Kennedy

When Arizona, a state that has historically leaned conservative, was won by Joe Biden and now-senator Mark Kelly this week, very few were taken by surprise. Extensive polling indicated Arizona was ripe for swinging liberal and in this instance, at least, the polling was correct.

The question is why? Why has a state that held two elected Republican senators as recently as 2018 and which held a dependable stable of electoral votes for GOP presidential candidates become a purple state on its way to becoming solidly blue? Have Arizona residents suddenly awaked to the idea that liberal policies and doctrines are more sensible than conservative ones? Hardly.

The answer regarding Arizona’s swing lies in its neighbor to the west, California. Since 2012, California has overwhelmingly sent more transplants to Arizona than any other state. When surveyed, escaping Californians cite high taxes, high crime rates, unaffordable housing, out-of-control homelessness, and high unemployment rates as their top reasons for fleeing.

Who is responsible for creating such an alarming living environment within the state? California liberals. A November, 2020 report produced by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University stated that California has 395,608 regulatory restrictions. The sheer volume and scope of California regulations creates such a compliance nightmare that they kill entire industries, send housing prices to unattainable heights, and restrict even commonplace liberties for which conservative leaning states are known.

Luircin, you speak volumes of good sense in that short statement. I have no use for gloom and doom conservatives. To me, they are almost as bad as the Jersey Shores Orca or Little Marco the Rube.

Here in Reno the stampede from CA is relentless.

Looks worse every day, we even had a small riot downtown with antifa/blm when the criminal Floyd was killed.

That would be unheard of a couple years ago. Plus the homeless problem was never this bad either, many are drug addict beggars looking for a handout.

Amazing how many CA license plates too, get lost to back where you came from!

Sad, but you are probably right. They will also send these immigrants to sparsely populated states in an attempt to turn them blue.

Yes, come out now. Maybe we need to give Californians a test before they are allowed to move to other states. :-)

Do you know who was born and raised in AZ?

Cindy McCain
Born: May 20, 1954 (age 66 years), Phoenix, AZ

“Well, Jeff Flake and John McCain were not exactly models of conservatism.”

Yes AZ GOP is ensconced and very RINO GOPe and very anti-Trump.

A lot of people who are generally conservative are also old fashioned and not exactly worldly. They still see Democrats as Hubert Humphrey or John Glenn. Not the crazy communist anti-Americans that they are. Mark Kelly is one who can pass himself off as a John Glenn.

The highest number of “transplants” are from Mexico.

In 1960, Tucson was maybe 10% Mexican (the catchall word “hispanic” didn’t exist as an ethnic cohort) and Phoenix even less so.

Those places were settled by mid-Westerners coming West on the newly completed railroads. They were overwhelmingly white ethnic American, and Spanish was unheard, even in places like South Tucson. Assimilation was ruthless.

Tucson is now almost 50% Mexican - Central/South Americans make up maybe 3-5% of the so-called “hispanic” cohort - and that’s all in the last 40 years.

These are people who had nothing to do with the creation and settlement of the United States. They have no ancestors who fought in any wars of the US, in fact their families in many cases descend from those who fought against the US not once but twice, and continue to use force and violence against Americans on a regular basis in that state.

But yet they a) demand the right to vote, b) continue to maintain that it’s “their land”, and c) demand that we respect their leaders as American officials, loyal to this country supposedly when they are clear that no such thing is true.

THESE are the people responsible for the purpling of Arizona and no one wants to admit it.

Yeah and those of us born about the same time as Sin-dee remember her daddy’s little business: Hensley Distributing, the most notorious and crooked operation in the State, mixed up in the murder of Don Bolles.

McCain married himself to the AZ mob.

Tucson has always been heavily Hispanic and Democrat-and a college town, the land of Udalls, Deconcinis, and Rondstats. In fact Arizona was a Democrat state until the 1960s

“Tucson has always been heavily Hispanic”

Maybe in your memory but not in mine. Nor my parents who were there from the ‘30s on.

PS your list is missing some rather famous names:

Goldwater, Fannin, Williams, Pyle, Greenway...

And the old Democrats in Arizona were mostly Southern Democrats like Waldon Burr. The Udalls just piggy backed on that and still do. Their “liberalism” is just Mormon reaction to traditional American conservatism.

Late model Rats were more like the Babbits and Deconcinis.

This speaks volumes. I remember sitting in my Language Arts class in high school the day after the Berlin Wall started coming down. My teacher said something to the effect of “I don’t know why everyone is so happy. The cage has been opened and we will all pay the price eventually”.
I know it’s funny to watch the insanity in California from afar, but it’s failures are unleashing it’s insanity on the rest of the country.
God help us all.

As a long term resident of Colorado, I can attest to having been invaded by California. They have completely taken over politically here and the damaging effects are only getting started. I noticed a HUGE increase in the number and aggression levels of the homeless population 5 years ago. Now we have tent cities and the once popular downtown area has become dangerous enough that people are finding other places to go.

CO took another major step toward becoming CA-lite by giving away our electoral votes to the majority. That would have NEVER happened here 25 years ago.

CO will be fine for another 10 years or so, just not nearly as good as it might have been. Eventually people like me will be able to retire...and vote with their feet. My hope is TX can prevent the same invasion. If not, I’m not sure were else to go.

Arizona elected John McCain a million times before the first Liberal Californian ever stopped there for anything other than gas. You can lay this one at the feet of John McCain’s grave and his pathetic wife and offspring.

McCain was as dirty as Biden. Everyone in Arizona knew it and they kept sending him back to Washington.
