On Tuesday night, the American people spoke. They spoke with millions upon millions of voices to produce the greatest presidential election voter turnout in over a century. And they sent a variety of messages, most of them quite positive.
Voters rejected the prevailing narratives of a media determined to make the election a pure referendum on Donald Trump's character. Even if Joe Biden prevails eventually, he will likely be faced with a Republican Senate majority and a 2022 contest that will put the House of Representatives squarely in Republican sights.
Voters rejected the pollsters' overconfident modeling: Pollsters were dramatically wrong in their national numbers and just as wrong in their Senate estimates. Voters apparently aren't all that interested in registering their opinions with elite firms who see them as social science subjects rather than as individuals.
Voters stuck to their guns in red states; they stuck to their guns in blue states; they stuck to their guns in purple states. America is divided, and it is not growing less divided just out of the elitists' overwrought and hysterical mewling about Trump. This is still a country that is one-third conservative, one-third liberal and one-third in the middle.
But one message resonated above all others: the outright rejection of the ongoing quest by Democrats and the media to paint Americans into racial categories and then declare demographics destiny. Donald Trump bucked four long years of Democrats and media members labeling both him and his supporters white supremacists, bigots and homophobes. He refused to be cowed by a media determined to paint him as a racist for refusing the faulty premise that America is institutionally bigoted. And he won an increased share of black and Hispanic voters.
According to Edison exit polling, as of election night, Trump had gained 2 points with white women; 4 points with black men and 4 points with black women; 3 points with Latino men and 3 points with Latino women; and 5 points in the "other" category. In Florida, according to NBC News exit polling, Trump's coalition included a 55% share of the Cuban American vote, a 30% share of the Puerto Rican vote and 48 percent of "other Latinos." Trump substantially elevated the national share of Latino and black voters for Republicans -- and did so without pandering on illegal immigration or buying into the trite and ugly lies of the Black Lives Matter movement.
It wasn't just Trump. In California, a majority-minority state, voters refused to greenlight the racist Proposition 16, which would have repealed a state constitutional provision banning racial discrimination, paving the way for reparations and affirmative action. They did so by a margin of over 10 points and despite the fact that Prop 16 advocates spent 12 times the money their opponents did.
All of this has sent woke thinkers into spasms of apoplexy. The execrable Nikole Hannah-Jones, creator of the pseudo-historical "1619 Project," tweeted out that Latinos can no longer be considered a racial category, since some Cubans are "white." Charles Blow of The New York Times tweeted, "We are surrounded by racists."
Actually, Hannah-Jones and Blow aren't surrounded by racists. They're surrounded by people who reject racism and reject the implicitly racist belief that ethnicity ought to dictate voting pattern.
All of this is excellent news. Americans spoke last night. They spoke as Americans, as individuals, not as members of contrived interest groups. And that is certainly worth celebrating.
Yes, they did.
The impeachment of Joe Biden begins on the day that he gets named as the next president, if that happens.
The “Woke” crowd are fast asleep in a dystopian nightmare.
You need a majority in the house to impeach.
I was thinking the same thing. How does one go about getting Pelosi to start that ball rolling?
Lost me at Ben Shapiro
As soon as the president spoke, stating he would not let the American peoples election to be taken from them, this guy, this Shapiro guy was tweeting that Trump was speaking irresponsibly.
He doesnt get to write any more about this s show of an election.
Dana Perino was on air reading that. She loves to scold the president passively for his behavior.
These people, their refusal to acknowledge what it will take to re establish order are what Trump got elected for.
Here’s what I don’t get.
IL voted against the mother of all tax increases, but voted FOR BiteMe?
I don’t buy it.
America is better than Blue.
When you say a Blue State, what youre saying is the majority of our fellow Americans willingly voted for a criminal who has used the power of the US Govmt to shake down nations for his own pocket, who endorses illegal substance use and abuse among family members and in his own home, as well as pedophilia.
We are a better nation than that. A Blue State is one whos electoral processes have been so gradually, incrementally, and thoroughly corrupted in ALL its forms that the residents have been conditioned to accept that their American ideals are a minority among a sea of fraudulent socialists. None ever think twice after thirty five years, of carefully and critically policing the voting process using contemporary digital tools.
What I find FAR easier to believe, is that as of Reagans a$%-kicking in 1984 the small number of American socialists began a program of gradually organized corruption of the Federal Elections that has proceeded incrementally across the country relatively unimpeded-and that in this election, in their brazenness, now they have attempted to extend this process into the remaining relatively un-corrupted states.
The American Left KNOWS 21st century digital balloting is coming and that when it does all this is exposed
If Biden makes it to the inauguration he wont last 30 days in office before they retire him.
Yes. Shapiro has shown himself to ultimately be a useful idiot for the left. I had grown to respect him but that went right out the window with that tweet.
Yes, I know.
But when Trump came into office the Democrats did not have a majority in the House, and yet they publicly and repreatedly made the same announcement, that his impeachment begins today. They even ran on that in 2018. I am alluding to that.
So thats what I mean - we should do the same to them. Yes, the formal impeachment doesnt begin yet, but the effort to push for it does begin.
I never could stand Shapiro. He was a never Trumper on the morning answer in L.A. before the 2016 election. Also his adolescent squeaky voice bugs me and he talks so fast you’d think he was taking amphetamines.
You may be right about that.
I can’t stand Shapiro, but this is a pretty good article.
“Latino” was never a “racial category” and it is sheer stupidity to even consider all “latinos” as a homogenous group. Cubans and Puerto Ricans are closely related, but not so with Mexicans and Central and most South Americans.
I am Puerto Rican, but that only means that I live in Puerto Rico or that I am from Puerto Rico. My father’s family is from Southern Spain and my mother’s from Northern Spain. Big difference for those who know. I grew up with other Puerto Ricans with Italian, German, Irish, Corsican, Yoruba-African and Anglo descendance.
We find it comical, and some find it insulting, when we’re confused with Mexicans, for example. And Mexicans don’t like us much either, as I learned from my time in the Army.
And we all consider the made-up, gender neutral “latinx” label ridiculous. It is so contrary to the common Castillian Spanish language. Only New Yorkers like AOC use that BS non-word.
Anyone who is that wrong cannot be trusted to be that right about anything again.
Ben Shapiro = controlled opposition. There is a reason social media doesn’t go after him. They know which team he’ll be on when the rubber meets the road.
Sooner than that. Pelosi will file the 25th Amendment at 12:02
I can’t stand Ben Shapiro, so reading anything by him is a near total no-no for me.
