Even the Pandemic Couldn’t Kill Trumpism (check out the last sentence)

Even if Trump loses, Biden will likely preside over a closely divided Senate. Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans will stymie Biden wherever they can, aiming to succeed where they failed in 2008 and make Biden a one-term president. Republicans across the country will have gotten the message, and Trump will goad them by never going away, claiming the election was snatched away from him illegally. With Trump showing significant strength even in the face of multiple challenges that would have obliterated most candidates, Republicans will be incentivized to continue emulating Trump, not disown him. Republicans will contend for congressional seats and, eventually, the party’s presidential nomination by playing up their connection to and deep reverence for the president.

And if Trump ends up winning, whether legitimately or by way of a barrage of dubious legal challenges, then the last four years will only be a prelude of what’s to come. The president does not have a second-term agenda; there are no policy goals or plans. The only thing guaranteed is that Trump will use his come-from-behind victory as an excuse to purge his administration of any remaining nonsycophants and sic his Justice Department on his political rivals—the last four years, only more so. It is almost too terrible to imagine.

Election Day was an opportunity not only to elect another leader but also to break Trump’s hold on the Republican Party, and on America. That didn’t happen.

Decent and telling article. The left is addressing things honestly all of a sudden, because they've been slapped in the mouth yet again.

"Election Day was an opportunity not only to elect another leader but also to break Trump’s hold on the Republican Party, and on America. That didn’t happen."

This last sentence is what the last five years have been all about. They literally gave it all they had. And they failed.

They expected glory days, of leftism on the march. They expected a vanquishing. What they got is yet another Republican Senate and a neutered House majority.

Whatever happens with the presidency, the legislature is the REAL reflection of the people. The Democrats thought 2018 was how it would go forever (and wanted to make sure it did). The people collectively didn't agree.

honest except for calling Trump a racist, blaming him for COVID and the economic collapse. All bullshit.

They are only realizing that the blue wave did not happen. They thought it would be a smack down of Trump and he’d lose easily and the dems would pick up all kinds of house seats etc.

If not for mail in frauds, POTUS would have won WI, MI and PA handily.

Trump has, contrary to the authors’ claim, laid out clearly what his second term will be about, and he’s done it every rally since September.

Besides job opportunities, Trump wants to address infrastructure, cybersecurity, pharm and PPE availability as well as revamping CDC shortcomings in responding to emergencies. As well as tightening FEMA responses. Expanding the relationships with our allies while containing China and Iran and working to bring a lasting peace to the ME is also a priority. As is the Space Force and space exploration.

I hope if this doesn’t work out for Trump (and us) that he never concedes; his presidency, even his campaign were wracked by all kinds of vicious attacks from both parties and their media henchmen. He should REALLY leave a mark and simply leave the White House with none of the decorum of previous transitions, completely delegitimizing the Biden presidency.

Only normals are expected to play by rules; to Hell with these bastards.

The last sentence is baloney. If the GOP ends up holding the Senate and narrowing their deficit in the House, and Trump is defeated, then Trump’s influence in the party is over. They’ll still be the Wall Street globalist party, and they’ll go back to the days or trotting out one loser after another every four years for a White House bid.

“and they’ll go back to the days or trotting out one loser after another every four years for a White House bid.”

Not if Trump runs again in 2024 (would be same age as Biden is).

Even if he came back and ran again the GOP would never let him win the nomination. They would pull the same stunt the DNC did for Biden in 2030 and rig the primaries to get everyone except a hand-picked candidate out of the race.

If Trump runs as an Independent, the GOP needn’t bother putting up a candidate.

Trump will never win as an independent. That’s why he dropped his bid to run as the Reform Party candidate in 2000.

Mr. Shephard,
You betcha, TRUMPISM is here to stay. And, let’s not speak of “many Americans could simply stop worrying about politics all the time.” as it was the radical left’s changing all the rules which spirited us to this particular moment in time. The fact that campaigns are now being fought an entire year (as opposed to several months) does absolutely nothing about calming the minds of most. Knowing what eventually lies in waiting only makes the horrors more profound.

Specifically, a shephard who has no experience in leading sheep and would rather shear them or feed on them after forcing them into bondage has absolutely no business to be known as A. Shephard.

America is better than Blue.

When you say a “Blue State”, what you’re saying is the majority of our fellow Americans willingly voted for a criminal who has used the power of the US Govmt to shake down nations for his own pocket, who endorses illegal substance use and abuse among family members and in his own home, as well as pedophilia.

We are a better nation than that. A “Blue State” is one who’s electoral processes have been so gradually, incrementally, and thoroughly corrupted in ALL its forms that the residents have been conditioned to accept that their American ideals are a minority among a sea of fraudulent socialists. None ever think twice after thirty five years, of carefully and critically policing the voting process using contemporary digital tools.

What I find FAR easier to believe, is that as of Reagan’s a$%-kicking in 1984 the small number of American socialists began a program of gradually organized corruption of the Federal Elections that has proceeded incrementally across the country relatively unimpeded-and that in this election, in their brazenness, now they have attempted to extend this process into the remaining relatively un-corrupted states.

The American Left KNOWS 21st century digital balloting is coming and that when it does all this is exposed.

A lot has changed since 2000. But my point wasn’t so much that Trump would win, but that the GOP would lose. The threat alone might stop GOP from trying to muscle Trump out of the primaries.

Even after the last four years, it amazes me that you so underestimate Trump.

Then you’d have the same problem in 2024 that you have today: Trump as the GOP nominee and a bunch of Republican political figures endorsing the Democrat.

I don’t underestimate Trump at all. I just recognize that it took him 16 years to get to the point where he could run the first time, and he was successful because the conditions were just right for him to succeed. You can’t rely on that to happen again.
