NEW YORK — Two hours before polls closed on Election Night and Rep. Max Rose was dancing in the street.

That celebration was short-lived.

Shortly before 11 p.m., Rose took the stage. He was behind.

“I believe every vote should be counted,” the freshman congressman said.

His Republican challenger, Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, has a large lead, according to preliminary election results. She already claimed victory.

NY1 spoke with her Wednesday afternoon.

“I am sure he will concede on his own timeline,” Malliotakis said of Rose. "Look at the lead we have. 35,000 votes is pretty significant."

While more than 41,000 absentee ballots are still outstanding and will not be opened until next week, Malliotakis’s lead could be insurmountable for Rose. He would need nearly all of those ballots to swing in his favor.

Malliotakis strong showing comes after a vicious campaign. One of her main attacks: slamming Rose for marching during a Black Lives Matter protest last summer.

Rose used his Election Night remarks to weigh in on the movement.

“All too often in our politics we acknowledge the pain and fears of those who support us and we dismiss those who don’t,” Rose said Tuesday night.

Democrat Rep. @MaxRose4NY, down big in the 11th Congressional District, isn’t conceding to @Nmalliotakis. He calls for every vote to be counted.

Much of his speech focused on defending joining a BLM march in the summer. #NY1Politics

We asked Malliotakis about the speech.

“What did the men and women of the 122 Precinct or the NYPD do to warrant those derogatory signs calling them derogatory names,” Malliotakis said. "We can always have a conversation about racism. We can always have a conversation about brutality, but they did not

Max Rose is a little toad! His campaign was so negative! I wish he would concede already.

That’s what I can’t understand. Trump is fighting to win the election yet Republicans had mind blowing returns. Why would they not vote for Trump and yet vote for the Republican. Doesn’t make sense

Nick Freitas in Va-7 had a 40,000 vote lead when I went to bed last night, looked like Spanberger (D-CIA) was kicked to the curb, today she’s up by 5,000.

Republicans are exceeding expectations and picking up House seats

Republicans didn’t lose control of a single state legislature

Republicans have fended off nearly every Senate challenger

Republicans swept down ballot

Are we really supposed to believe Trump UNDER-performed??

From one Max to another Max, “F**k off you coward. BLM ate your lunch, breakfast and dinner and all you could do was ask for a napkin”.

IT also does not make sense that those MASSIVE vote changes occurred in the middle of the wee hours of the night & that similar vote counts for OTHERS on the same ballot showed NO INCREASES.

These had to be electronic tampering increases.

Stay locked & loaded. Increase your supplies....
