The following is a news analysis.
We all know that a lot is at stake for each side depending upon the outcome of the 2020 election.
But this is a key event for something that is even larger than one campaign: the polls and pundits.
The narrative after 2016 was that the polls were actually accurate; they just picked the wrong winner. The truth is, most people understand that the way the polls were reported in 2016, they were used as narratives to try to give the appearance that— as many experts incorrectly claimed— Trump could never win. Obviously, the opposite was true.
There was already simmering mistrust of polls after past big misses. It would seem 2020 will be make or break for the polls and pundits.
If Biden defeats Trump, it could well be that some measure of self-correction was done by those crunching and reporting on polls. That could begin a restoration of confidence in the polling system, although many will likely remain circumspect until more proof of accurate polling is in the rear view mirror.
If, on the other hand, Trump wins, it will be impossible for many people to any longer trust in the system of polling and pundits we’ve relied upon for so long. If that happens, those responsible will be forced to evaluate and do a wholesale renovation of their industry if they hope to have any meaningful relevance in the near future.

The MSM (who commission the polls) have a desired outcome of Trump not winning. The pollsters then manipulate their polls to achieve the desired outcome for their clients - who are paying them big money.
Been waiting for this analysis. We have a chance here to destroy a major leftist tool in their toolbox.

They blew it
With polls, it’s garbage in, garbage out. Most people I know don’t answer any number that they don’t recognize and they won’t give Mr. Spam Risk the time of day. If pollsters can’t figure out a statistically accurate way to get their information in the 21st century, then they are useless at predicting anything. They scoff at crowd size at rallies, but that data is far more accurate than their own.
The polls will certainly be wrong but it will not deter the left from continuing to use them in the future to suppress voters or create a false campaign narrative.
When FoxNews, e.g., has a poll makeup of only 5% independents in all of its samples when there will clearly be over 30% independents voting the system has been totally corrupted by those jamokes.
Another problem with polls is me. I always poll for democrats and vote for republicans
When a Democrat wins, the polls are right.
When a Republican wins, the polls are wrong.
They’re not going away and they’re not going to change.

They should be out of a job, but the way things have evolved, I’m not so sure. All media has moved toward becoming fully partisan, propaganda media, and similarly all polling has trended toward gaslighting suppression propaganda.
Propaganda has taken over and as long as partisans are enticed by the lure of gaslighting, it’s going to keep on keeping on.
There is definitely a political shift taking place in this country; blue collar democrats are becoming Republicans, suburban women are becoming democrat Karens. Cracks are appearing in the black democrat monolith. I don’t think the pollsters have accounted for the shift in their modeling.
Fox News pounding the Real Poltics Biden Up 7 is the most egregious example.

You’re at least a decade late for many of us. I for one, gave up on the wicked, mendacious “polls” 10+ years ago....and I was hanging fire another 10 years before that; until I finally said: TO BLAZES with all of them!
Wish this would silence Luntz and other turncoats.
