With more than 20,000 Election Day polling places being shuttered nationwide, rampant online misinformation, mail delays, and of course, the coronavirus pandemic still raging, voting in the 2020 election is already hard enough.
But for many Americans, one of the biggest barriers to voting is a simple one: not having a ride to the polls.
Access to transportation is not typically one of the first things people think of when it comes to forms of voter suppression, but advocates say its one of the top obstacles people face when trying to cast their vote. In a Harvard study from 2016, 14% of nonvoters said transportation was a major factor in why they did not vote in that election.

The Biden voters are having a hard time getting off the couch to care enough to vote for him. The Trump voters will walk over broken glass.
League Of Women Voters usually will transport them. At least that used to be the case. The League prefers to take ballots to shut-ins, but they’re pretty much all libs, and I wouldn’t trust that for one minute.
What a bunch of panty waists
I have to laugh at this crap. Did this election get called last week? Its not like its been a secret. Many states have been voting for weeks. Absentee instructions are everywhere.
If they did not cast a vote, they are either stupid or lazy.
No problem getting to the protests?
Yet they’re able to go everywhere else and be ordered to stay close to home / stay home.
Never mind mail in voting and early voting.
Sheesh. Do I have to think of EVERYthing?
Life is tough every year when you’re stupid as well.
This is a dumb statement. Even the civilrights.org website only lists about 1200 locations being closed since 2012.
And no mention is made that most closures occurred when major cities opened large voting centers, to save money.
Please note that one of the “most oppressed” counties is Terrell County, TX - center of one of the largest drilling booms that the area has ever seen. Oh, they have a population of 721 and went from two voting locations to one.
Who is oppressing whom?
They’ve had 2 weeks early voting in most places, absentee ballots, mail-in ballots.
Anybody that hasn’t got it figured out by now probably shouldn’t be voting.
Hopefully, it will be for Democrats.
Honestly Buzzfeed need to be barred from FR.
OFFS! It seems there is a polling station on every block!
But that is the Dem base.
In the old days ..... or maybe not so old days.... they would be given booze, smokes, and probably a little coin too.
LOL!
Hey now dont knock scratch-offs! I get a couple every day.
“Yes, you heard that right. Not being able to get to the polls is “voter suppression.” LOL!!!!!”
What they ate trying to get at is allowing vote harvesting.
From the news source that published the Steel garbage.
