After Trump, the lefty deluge

There’s an old political saying: You can’t beat somebody with nobody.

The Democrats are hoping that adage is no longer true, because they have anointed Nobody at the top of their ticket, and his name is Joe Biden.

But then, this election has always been a referendum: Donald Trump, thumbs up or thumbs down.

Just to put everything in perspective in this national top-of-the-ballot referendum, if you vote thumbs down, you will get a guy who on Friday was campaigning in Iowa and Minnesota in brief appearances in which Biden forgot his age (he’s 78, not 74). He vowed to tax “trillionaires.”

He touted the endorsement of a retired military leader he identified as “General McGeneral.” He pegged the number of COVID-19 dead at 30,000 (quite a reduction from his earlier claims of “200 million” dead).

Joe Biden is not all there.

He looks like the old guy you see sitting by himself on a park bench, legs crossed, talking to passing clouds, screaming at pigeons, maybe later wandering through the parking lot at Market Basket trying to remember where he parked his car, or if he even still has a car.

This final Biden campaign, as someone wrote yesterday in the National Review, is “a doddering culmination of a half-century of hackery and blarney.”

Mostly hackery. And now Biden finds himself embroiled in the worst sort of influence-peddling scandal — his family grabbing millions in cash from the Communist Chinese, the Ukrainians, the Russians and God only knows who else.

As corrupt as the Biden Crime Family is, Big Tech and the mainstream media refuse to even broach the subject, actually trying to shut (and shout) down anyone who attempts to report it.

Joe Biden says the U.S. is heading into a “dark winter.” It certainly is, if he’s elected, along with Kamala Harris. He and his family are so dirty they could be taken down by the Deep State any time he steps out of line (the FBI has already got the family in its crosshairs).

As for Harris, the real next president, she’s not exactly the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, and I’m being generous. She’d be a figurehead as well, for the sinister woke cabals that have lately given us, among so many other plagues, the Green New Deal, antifa and Black Lives Matter, endless riots and looting, cancel culture and the hysterical overreaction to COVID-19.

But … Orange Man Bad.

I remember this weekend four years ago, when like so many others, I was worried by Hillary Clinton’s wide lead in the polls.

After all, she’d been openly campaigning for “open borders,” and against the First and Second Amendments. And the Clintons, of course, are even more corrupt than the Bidens. (Although it’s much closer than we thought.)

But America caught a break in 2016. We got a four-year reprieve from Barack Obama’s “fundamental transformation” of the United States into a banana republic.

Now they’re back, the barbarians at the gate. This time, if they win, they want to make sure that no true Americans can ever win another election in America.

They want to pack the Supreme Court, abolish the Electoral College, add more welfare-dependent states, allow felons and illegal immigrants to vote, lower the voting age to 16 …

What could possibly go wrong?

The survival of the Republic as it was founded is on the ballot, and yet otherwise sensible people gripe about how they … don’t like Trump’s tweets. How the hell else is he supposed to break through Big Tech’s censorship which has been on such display this last week?

They tut-tut that Trump should be less abrasive. Really? He should try to offer an olive branch to the same Deep State bad actors who tried to pull off a coup d’etat against him with falsified evidence in the Russian collusion hoax?

If it comes down to Trump vs. the entrenched police state, as it has for four long years, which side are you on?

It’s always concerned me that Trump might end up as a transitional figure, a one-and-done, as the society continued devolving into a northern-hemisphere version of Venezuela. Repression and poverty, minus the palm trees.

History, like popular music, is full of one-hit wonders. In the last days of the Roman Empire, a Trump-like figure briefly emerged. The emperor’s name was Julian the Apostate. Here’s Wikipedia’s description:

“He believed it was necessary to restore the Empire’s ancient Roman values and traditions in order to save it from dissolution. He purged the top-heavy state bureaucracy and attempted to revive traditional Roman religious practices.”

Julian the Apostate was gone after two years. And soon, so was the Empire itself.

King Louis XV of France also lived in a similar age, with political purges, the guillotine and totalitarian rule on the horizon. He said, “Apres moi, le deluge.”

After me, the deluge.

Nothing lasts forever, but I’m still praying for another four-year reprieve for America. Can we restore ourselves as a nation of laws rather than of men? Can we keep the mobs at bay for a few more years?

John Adams once wrote of the new republic: “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Are we still a moral and religious people? I asked that question four years ago, and I repeat it this morning.

We’ll know the answer soon enough. If the answer is no, apres Trump, le deluge.

It's tough to top the $145 million bribe in one go which Hillary got away with quite easily, thank you. OTOH, Gropin' Joe's been on the gummint teat for 47 years. Slow and steady wins the race.

I can't listen to them without throwing something at the TV and cursing up a storm, but on election night I enjoy putting them on mute while their body language tells the story...

H.L. Mencken perfectly captured my emotional state on those rare brief moments when I watch and listen to lefty media:

Oh, and I know it is tradition not to criminally prosecute political opponents, but Biden’s corruption so incredibly prolific, it’s time to make an example of the whole family.

If we don’t, the next Democrats will be worse.

Regarding adding states...don’t you need 2/3rd of both houses of Congress for that? Same with abolishing the Constitution?
