in many counties in colorado you can sign up for "Ballot Track", that notifies you when your mail-in ballot has been physically received and when it has been accepted (signature verified):

I don’t remember signing up for this but after we voted (taken to courthouse) I got two emails from them. One received ballot and one verified.

My ballot was in a County drop box two hours after I received it in the mail. This was on a Saturday.

The Ballot Track system reported it received and verified two days later.

I was pleased with the response.

NOTHING these @$$holes do is free.

But at least they asked. Here in NJ the just pissed away the same money without asking. I got mailed a notification that my vote had been "recieved" a week or more after I had already seen the same status on an NJ-Vote website. (But they won't tell me whether my vote was "accepted" until after the election!)
