Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) spoke to Hispanic Americans at a campaign stop in McAllen, Texas, on Friday, telling them that she and former Vice President Joe Biden’s “first order of business” is to get rid of President Trump’s tax cuts.
“I promise you this — as a first order of business, Joe Biden and I are about to work to get rid of that tax cut,” she said to cheers.

So they are promising to raise taxes on those earning under $400k per year. Someone should tell Joe.

Tax reform act 1986 lowered top tax rate to 28%, while eliminating a lot of deductions. That was the best tax reform we had, ever!
As a matter of fact, this act is is still the basis of current tax law (no major tax reform since), but every time congress did something, they patched it with If’s (If you have kid in college and make less than ..., then ...)
Augmented with zillions of if’s, over the years it grew to the current monstrosity!
Tax rate trend:
Bush the Elder, Clinton, Obama and Biden proposal raised taxes/will raise tax rate on the “rich”.
“Let them chip in a little bit! They have the money! We need the revenue. Fix the income disparity. “
Bush the Younger and Trump lowered taxes on everybody!
Dems criticism:
“They cut taxes for the benefit of the rich!”
In result we have a situation when half of the people do not pay any taxes, while the rich could be subject to 60-70% effective marginal tax rate in Biden plan. (Adding all the Biden proposals together)
The “rich” tax rates will more than double relative to 1986, while the “poor” rates are actually quite lower than in 1986. Unfair. Not good for the economy.
Personally, I would just return back to the 1986 tax law and start again from that.
Biden’s $400K lower limit is just happy talk for the election.

After the Trump tax cut I began using a standard deduction instead of itemized deductions. It made my taxes much easier after decades of messing around with all the paperwork envolved with itemized deductions. Democrats are nuts!

Stupid people who don’t think they pay taxes - except they will when they buy gas or anything not available with their EBT cards - all of which will go up as their wages and hours go down, if employed.
