Perhaps 'its natural to be concerned for him'. - until you see how the MSM amplifies that concern; or find out that he has some important issue on his mind that has nothing to do with elections and rallies.
I honestly don't understand what everyone is so 'concerned' about. He spoke to a very small crowd - AFTER going outside to engage the huge, 'unallowed' crowd.
To me, he sounded purposeful, direct, and toned his message to a more intimate style which was appropriate to the size of the crowd.
If folks just want a 'show', perhaps they need to find themselves a regular politician.

I agree with your explanation. But I dont think its fair to think everyone whos concerned just wants a show.
I do think he toned it down because of the crowd size, and maybe also because he was furious and tired. Who wouldnt be? In his words, though, he was ripping them a new one, and Biden too.
