"A normal life that's all we want, a normal life." That was President Trump's message one Monday evening in Sanford, and the following Friday in Ocala, Florida. He repeated the idea in Carson City, Nevada: "Normal life, that's all we want. We want normal life."
Normalcy may seem an unlikely theme for a re-election campaign, but it's one that strikes a chord in 2020, which has clearly not been a normal year. The fallout from the coronavirus has killed 220,000 Americans; locked down our economy; and forced people around the world to practice social distancing, wear masks, and work at home. Riots have plagued our cities, and the radical left has taken over the Democratic Party. Protesters have shown disrespect for and attacked the police. The "cancel culture" has removed longstanding monuments and brought our Founding Fathers into disrepute in the minds of many. At present, a presidential candidate whom many consider mentally incapacitated is leading in the polls.
None of this is normal, and the idea that a permanent change has taken place is false. When they are asked, most Americans say they just want to "get back to normal." That means they do not accept the idea of staying home; do not support the protesters or the cancel culture; and retain a positive opinion of Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and the other great leaders of our country. Also, there is what Forbes calls "a severe enthusiasm problem" for Joe Biden. Biden-supporters don't like Biden they just want to register a protest vote against Trump. If Biden gets elected, the public won't like him any more than they do now.
What this suggests is that there is a strong desire to get back to normal.

LEARN FROM HISTORY!
This was the case exactly 100 years ago, when Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge ran on the theme of a return to normalcy ( at the height of the Spanish flu ).
In 1920, Americans had a lot that seemed abnormal, and the parallels with 2020 are uncanny. America had recently exited the first truly modern war, and many soldiers had returned in shock. The great flu epidemic of 191819 had killed 50 million people worldwide, and the effects of the flu lingered. America was in the midst of a severe economic recession caused by unbridled wartime spending and economic regulation, and the president, who had suffered a paralyzing stroke, was governing “from his basement,” out of view of the public.
It’s not surprising that President Trump has hit upon the same theme that elected Harding and Coolidge. It’s surprising only that he has not pressed harder on the issue. Americans are tired of the abnormal riots, the coronavirus restrictions, an economy running at less than full speed, the disrespect for our flag and anthem and for the police and tired of a presidential candidate who ducks out of view and refuses to answer questions.
Notice that “getting back to normal” does not include wearing silly, uncomfortable masks. Virtue signaling is very inconsiderate.
I don’t think that’s the most persuasive ad. To me, it’s all about the economy. The ad the Dems are using that’s been effective are the one using doctors to say Trump did the wrong thing. Trump needs to counter these with Pelosi and Schumer telling people to come to NYC and visit Chinatown...right in the middle of the pandemic. Hindsight is easy, leading is not and if Joe has all the answers, why has he wasted 46 years in DC with nothing to show but pockets stuffed with cash??
When biden spit out that dark winter line I turned to my wife and predicted it was gonna come back to bite him. Looks like it has helped define Biden as gloom and doom. In this climate and the mood that a lot of Americans are in that’s the last thing they want to here.
Yes but as usual they make the false charge with NO evidence. They say generally, "he didn't follow the science"? WTF does that even mean, can they cite 22-3 examples, of course not.
The law of attraction is at work and it does not discriminate between the negative and positive. Biden and the left has it's doom, gloom and dark winters. Even more striking is the left's hatred which is seen thru bLM, Antifa, and social justice movement's rioting, looting and razing businesses. If completely distilled to the most powerful emotions there is a huge contrast.
Can you at any time recall when 30+ thousand rally goers have chanted, "We Love You" for a presidential candidate? The war being fought is between love and hate.
My daughter went to the Trump rally in Middletown, PA. She described it as a "love fest". There is an incredible amount of attraction to that, and that is way beyond just "normal life."
I have taken to watching all of the Trump rallies. i watch those and see people happy, smiling, having a good time. No wonder people want on the Trump Train. After months of depressing miserable covid and the covid tyranny people are getting out and finding some joy and good clean fun again.
Honestly, nothing is more depressing than democrat politics. politics that focus on hate, envy, resentment, and misery.
Most of us want to be at a Trump rally, not an antifa/blm city looting and burning.
Make that “the Dark Winter Biden is promising”... that’s what he and the Democrats want. Shut down this economy and then they can control the soviet style rebuilding of America. Disgusting.
They don't care...they do it all the time. The GOP needs to take off the gloves and start hitting back.,,NOW!!
Biden is a Quisling for China.....Chiden!
