"My family's been in Arizona for more than 100 years. We don't see ourselves as immigrants," he said. "We're very much Arizonans and Americans. So to continue to treat us as if we're all still just fresh across the border, which most Republicans and a lot of Democrats would like to think we are just to easily encapsulate us is something that is not resounding."
Torres is a part of about or over a quarter of Latinos who view this president favorably, with some polls showing Trump doing slightly better among Latinos in 2020 than he did with Latinos in 2016.
...Trump campaign's messaging has been successful on low unemployment for Latinos pre-pandemic, law and order ... and other issues important to Latino conservatives.
Avila is...executive director of the Orange County Republican Party.
"The independent spirit of our community really drove me to the Republican ideal of making sure that you're able to provide for yourself and your family, that you have that independence and that liberty to be able to start your own business or work where you wanted to, or go to school where you wanted to go and have those opportunities available."
His Christian faith also aligned him with the Republican Party on issues such as abortion. And while he said he probably wouldn't phrase things the way Trump does sometimes, Latino voters like him are attracted to the message of lower taxes and lower costs of living, especially in California.
"I've never seen the Republican Party fight this hard to get Latino and African American votes," he said...."I'm hoping that that can be a better conduit to connecting with Latinos across the country and showing them that the Republican Party, there is a place for you here. This is your home as a voter."

Many Latino men are small business owners or work for small businesses.
The GOP is EASILY the party of small business.
QED.
And. . .Latinos have really strong families and they go to church. The GOP is EASILY the party of really strong families who go to church.
Gotta say....I was wondering what Trump was doing in that first debate, but apparently his show of machismo earned him a big chunk of this voting bloc.
Well...This one is and so is his “latina” (I hate that damn word) wife.
My entire family save the standard gay uncle is voting Trump.
Good point.
I know an extende Mexican family of five brothers here.
They moved here in 2009 and opened a Mexican grocery store.
Ten years later they had five stores and a restaurant.
A quintessential American success story.
Gracias amigos.
I for one have never treated a legal alien, citizen or otherwise, with anything other than the respect warranted by his desserts. And as far as I’m concerned, a naturalized citizen is a fellow citizen, regardless of his race, color, creed or what-not.
NPR? Fake News!
Here in AZ, I do a LOT of GOP events. Overwhelmingly it’s women Hispanics over males.
Not from my perspective.
Hmm. Latino men here, black men a few days ago, some story a few months ago about increase in support among gay men... almost like there is something in common here...LOL.
The gender gap is looking to be massive this time around unless women start thinking clearer.

UFC star Jorge Masvidal gave a stirring endorsement of President Donald Trump as he called out Democrats for their “false promises.”
The professional mixed martial artist currently with the Ultimate Fighting Championship as a welterweight star has been campaigning across South Florida with the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., as part of a Fighters Against Socialism tour. He slammed Democrats in a recent speech for their attempts to “pander” to Latinos to get their vote.
“I’m gonna let you in on something,” he said Sunday at the American Top Team MMA Gym in Coconut Creek.
“The Democrats just think theyre entitled to the Latino vote. They think that we just have to hand it over to them. That’s right. We sure as hell don’t,” Masvidal told the crowd.
“They’ve got to show us what they can do for us, what they can do for our communities,” the 36-year-old Cuban-American who was born and raised in Miami continued before quoting former President Barack Obama who said “elections have consequences.”
**Language warning:
WELL SAID @GamebredFighter
Trump is like our coach & before the pandemic we were winning! Best Economy! You dont replace a winning coach with a man thats been coaching for almost 50 yrs & never won a effing game! 💥

“Those words have never been more true than they are today. We either reelect President Trump and keep America great, ” he said as the crowd broke into cheers. “Or we let Joe Biden destroy the greatest country the world has ever seen,” Masvidal said as he concluded with a fitting sports analogy.
Comparing Trump to a “head coach,” the UFC fighter said the nation was “winning Super Bowls” before the coronavirus pandemic.
“And when you’re winning Super Bowls, you don’t fire the coach. It doesn’t matter that you don’t like the plays he runs, the players he puts on the field or what he says on Twitter,” Masvidal said. “You sure as hell don’t replace him for another coach that’s been in the business for 47 years at every level and never won a f—ing game.”
The Fighters Against Socialism tour kicked off last week at the Tampa Convention Center and made stops in Orlando, Coconut Creek and finally in Miami.
In the full speech from Coconut Creek, Masvidal spoke of the Latino community in his appeal for voters to support Trump.
I do know Latinos, he said. Latinos are not lazy. Latinos are not looking for a handout, we dont want free stuff we want freedom and opportunity. We want know that our hard work and sacrifice is going to pay off so we can get our piece of the American dream.
At Fighters against Socialism yesterday, we heard MMA Fighter Jorge Masvidal explain it best: Latinos are not lazy,… not looking for free stuff,… we want FREEDOM! OPPORTUNITY! Take a listen. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/jLDB8jacOy

We owe it to our parents and grandparents who risked their lives to get over to this great American country,” he added.
Masvidal recently posted a photo of himself with Trump Jr., citing their similar diet choices.
I knew @realDonaldTrump was legit when his son @DonaldJTrumpJr told me we share the same diet plan. Good food. Good hair. Good riddance socialism. pic.twitter.com/kLBvvPGAtl

“Since I was about knee high I’ve been hearing about the horrors of communism and socialism,” the UFC star whose father fled communist Cuba on a raft, told the Florida crowd Sunday as he warned of efforts by Biden and the radical left to “take us down the slippery slopes of socialism and misery.”
Yes. Agree. It’s a no brainer.
If your family has been US Citizens for over a century, you’re American, no matter what your last name is.
There is truth to what Torres says: the intense pressure to assimilate in Arizona has produced largely assimilated Mexicans in that state.
They feel alien in Mexico, which is far more backwards, corrupt and inept then even the crappiest towns in Arizona.
This is in contrast to California, where there is not only no pressure to assimilate to American norms, the cultMarxists of the state fight viciously to prevent assimilation, and demand assimilation of the American minority here to assimilate to the norms of the immigrant aliens.
Arizona is still American, for a while. The tipping point is close but because of the previous pressure to conform to our civil ideals - the English language, non-corruption of the government, the value of property - there has been a significant Mexican minority which has become closer to the American body politic, not “La Raza”.
But numbers will undo that. Tucson used to be 85% white American, and about 15% Mexican - now called “Hispanic”. There were never any significant numbers of any other racial or ethnic minority there before the last 40 years.
Now it is about 50-40 American / Mexican, and the birth rates on the Mexican side is far higher. The pressure to assimilate is diminishing, and for the first time since 1875, the idiots of Tucson made the mistake of electing a Mexican mayor, a woman who appears to have a sub-room temperature IQ, nothing but a chattering ideologue who spouts re-cycled La Raza slogans, which is typical for politicians in Mexico marketing to people with 3rd grade educations.
Phoenix is not much better off with the ethnic chameleon Gallegos as Mayor - a woman who trades on a Spanish name but is in fact an Eastern European Jewish transplant from Chicago. But Maricopa county still has a Republican majority and is further away from the border, so the effect of immigration is attenuated...a bit.
So for the moment, Arizona is still reasonably Red, but it’s fading as the aliens simply endure and multiply, making the necessity to assimilate less...necessary.
Stop this process and the State remains Republican and American. Feed it and the place turns into South Central Los Angeles.
I’m in a heavy liberal area (85% voted for Hillary). But the Latinos I know are for Trump - they like how he fights and stands up for himself and the country.
Ricky Martin isn’t. But I am guessing that is the Latino LGBTLMNOP voting block.
This is exactly why the President is more successful than other Republicans because his version of outreach is to go and talk to people, bringing his same message while listening and discussing their individual issues and concerns. He doesn't show up in pander mode like the typical pol.
Black men too.
A Trump win will be sealed with the Hispanic and Black vote. It would be a the sweetest victory if the Democrats are undone by the demographics they think they own. If this election goes in our favor it may very well be the moment where criticality is reached the Republican party begins to reach parity with the Democrat party with minority voters. I’ve honestly never seen so many gay, black, Hispanic, and other minority voters excited for a Republican and Trump has done this without sacrificing our principles. He’s not succumbing to treating minorities like idiots like the Democrats do. He treats them with respect as Americans as more than identities.
