Actually, it’s a pathology worse than the Chinese plague. They are genuinely afraid. I know some of them, some are relatives.
I don’t question their genuine fear. Hell, I CHOOSE to avoid sharing indoor air with other people to the most reasonable extent I can. And I don’t think I’m crazy...only my ex wives do.
I don’t do restaurants, bars, theaters etc. where you’re in the same airspace as a dozen or more people for an hour or more. I go to the same grocery store each time because I know where everything is and can be and out in 10-12 minutes.
Again, I don’t think I’m crazy...but, like my ex wives, some of you may.
Being genuinely afraid, the fear consumes them and prevents them from taking any risks. You, on the other hand are like so many of us. We know the risks and take the precautions we are comfortable with including staying out of some spaces and limiting our time in others. I'm the same way, I (and most of those I work with) won't go to Walmart (my elderly neighbor will, but she will get up early before there is a crowd). That way we continue to work our own way through this without losing ourselves to fear and isolation.
And, BTW, I agree with you and don't think you are crazy.
