I only heard one little frou-frou bit. And if you Can do that, I don’t know how you could resist showing it off.
This is one of the most difficult things to sing.
It is difficult. One of my Vocal Students got to sing it for the Florida Panthers. She always sang it for her ROTC group.
And, yes, it IS hard to resist that high note at the end!
I didn’t mind that big note at the end. What I didn’t like was when she switched octaves in the middle of the song. But, it wasn’t disrespectful, so OK. No Problem. And she sounded very sincere.
I taught my students that the only place they should allow themselves the “frou frou” is on the word “FREE” at the end. AND, only if you can do it with equal vocal color and dynamics as the rest of the song. The soloist was quite able to do that.
