A 96-year-old World War II veteran is hoping to become the oldest Marine to ever complete the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday.
Thiele "Fred" Harvey, who fought in the battle of Iwo Jima, is participating in the race with a team of marathoners -- Dr. Glenn Paige, Chris Haley and Master Gunnery Sgt. Michael Lawrence -- who plan to push Harvey across the finish line.
Paige, who has run several Marine marathons, first met Harvey four years ago. The two have talked every week since.

More power to him, but I keep thinking . . . the spirit is willing but the flesh just ain’t got it no more. I know that in my 67-year-old mind I can do just about anything, until I try to do it.
My uncle Joe is 92. He plays tennis twice a week, golf 3 times a week and volunteers are a soup kitchen on the weekends.
Me, I do the 49F at 52.
That’s how many feet it is to the refrigerator.
My aunt millie is 78 and belongs to a gym and does aerobics.
These were the Italians that have eaten real Italian food their whole lives.
I did until I move out in my early 20s.
Then I ate The Italian/American Frankenstein creations of food, loaded with cheese, fat, salt and carbs, with everything fried and heroes the size of nuclear warheads.
I might see 60 :)
I hate to break it to you, but you might have misunderstood what is going on. All Thiele “Fred” Harvey has to do is stay in the wheelchair, there is a team of three that is going to take turns pushing him for the 26 miles.

Ha! I have a similar accomplishment story. Im well over 60. And last year I finished a 26.2 mile marathon in just under three hours! I did it in a 2008 Ford Focus. But thats a minor detail.
I’m still a fast sprinter in my 60’s, sprint to the bathroom mostly
:)
You really had me scratching my head for a second!
Italian, Chinese, Mexican..is there any food that doesn’t become 10x more fattening when it’s recreated here? :)
Someone told me the Chinese are on a Chinese American food craze.
Good. Let them get fat too!

Sugar is often added to American bread and pastas just because. Many Eastern Europeans say our bread tastes like their cake.
WOW.
I wonder what they would think of our cakes? :)
Usually at night!
I just turned 63. I feel like I am in better shape than ever in my life. A few aches and pains especially in the morning but otherwise.
Maybe we should add hurdles to the sprinting? Obstacle course?
