Santa Ana winds
Also known as katabatic winds - you ought to experience them in Juneau, Alaska where I lived for 25 years. When it's clear and cold they really come ripping down the mountain, 100 knot gusts at times.

That will blow the sugar out of your coffee - Juneau sits on saltwater at the base of a 5000 foot mountain with a huge ice field behind the peak.
Back in the 60's the weather service placed a wind gauge up on top that was supposed to withstand gusts of 200+ mph - when they checked in the spring, all of it was gone except the concrete pad, supposedly.
