Here in Middle America, there are small towns where going a couple of miles per hour over the speed limit will get you stopped by the town’s lone police officer. These “speed traps” are dotted throughout the region as, many times, a significant portion of a town’s revenue comes from issuing these tickets.

The only peaceful protest I can think of is to:
1) NOT PAY THE FINE; and then
2) VOTE OUT THE DAMN POLITICIANS WHO PASSED THIS LAW ( Including Lori Lightfoot ).

She needs to cover a $1.2 billion deficit, according to other news reports. That’s serious money.
She’s learning some tough lessons about municipal finance.
It’s easy to generalize, I know, but some of these Democratic run places seem to have the worst financial problems.
And the virus is a factor. Because these Democrat run places have resisted opening back up, the tax revenue generated by economic activity is not flowing into her treasury. Thus, her billion dollar plus problem.
And there are no Republicans she can blame her problems on.

Not necessarily. Police have radars that also detect how fast your cargoes. My friends have been ticketed on the spot by Police while driving around Northwestern University.

There’s a small town in East Tennessee named Benton that sits on Highway 411 South...They used to have speed limit signs in town that read 34 MPH...

LOL. Back in the late 70s I was visiting my folks in MA. My cousin, a state trooper in Rhode Island, came over Christmas afternoon and mentioned he had been running radar all morning on I-95 and wrote about 10 tickets. I gave him some grief about writing speeding tickets on Christmas, and he said he didn't stop anyone going under 90.
