NBC’s Welker sharp in first turn as debate moderator
The Associated Press ^ | October 23, 2020 | By DAVID BAUDER

Moderator Kristen Welker - with the help of an offstage mute button - helped give Americans the substantive, crackling debate over leadership that had been missing so far during the 2020 presidential campaign.

The NBC News White House correspondent worked hard Thursday to keep control of the second and final encounter between President Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden, steering but not stifling exchanges.

Midway through the debate, she even received a compliment from the Republican president, who said, “So far, I respect very much the way you handled this.”

“I’m jealous,” said Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace, moderator of the first debate. “I would have loved to have been able to moderate that debate and get a real exchange of views instead of hundreds of interruptions.”

Some conservatives said on social media that they believed Welker was quicker to cut Trump off than Biden and introduced subjects - the coronavirus, race and climate change - that helped the Democrat.

But she received praise for her performance from across the political spectrum, including conservative personalities Ben Shapiro and Brit Hume.

“Kristen Welker is putting on a master class on how to moderate a presidential debate,” tweeted Philip Rucker, a Washington Post reporter.

Well, she was light years better than Chris Wallace.
I would say that's about as good as a Republican could hope for with a Leftist media.

Did Welker Say that the two debaters were not given the questions prior to the debate?

It sure seemed like Joe Biden had the questions prior to the debate. In any case the questions were nothing but liberal talking points for the most part.

“I would have loved to have been able to moderate that debate and get a real exchange of views instead of hundreds of interruptions.”

Says the guy who interrupted Predident Trump over what 60 times while openly siding with Biden.
And was totally part of team Biden in that sham debate.
Welker was better than Wallace yes, but still interrupted Trump 24 times to only twice for Biden.
She basically let Biden ramble on. Plus all her questions were coming from a leftist perspective. Nobody cares about global warming. I don't see it amongst the top things voters are worried about. People are far more concerned about law and order, lockdowns and jobs right now.
Republicans should never agree to any such debates controlled by the debates commission again.

So I’m a great moderator if I begin each segment with a false premise, and clearly have given Biden’s posse the questions in advance? Any Freeper ostriches not think Big man Joe’s brown windshield answer wasn’t rehearsed?

I agree. Every question was a negative towards President Trump. Not a level play field which is what we all assumed going in.

The Commission on Debates, chose topics to disadvantage President Trump. Nothing was said about the engineered ComDem Riots. The 2 Trillion dollars of damaged to property.

Do you think those voters living in the Cities where they happened will forget them when they come to the polls on the 3rd?

“I’m jealous,” said Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace, moderator of the first debate. “I would have loved to have been able to moderate that debate and get a real exchange of views instead of hundreds of interruptions.”

It was Wallace's own fault for the way that debate turned out. If he had asked straight, concise, neutral questions instead of those long-winded biased ones based on false premises, he wouldn't have been interrupted so much,

Debate commission should be abolished.
We need them like a hole in the head

I don’t think she was sharp.

I think whoever was hollering in her ear was sharp.

That is exactly the point. Same questions as the first debate. No questions about the Middle East. A real setup

“ Well, she was light years better than Chris Wallace.”
************

Yeh, for sure. I’ve watched with considerable amusement Chris Wallace crying and whining since his debacle trying to defend his performance. At first, his Fox compatriots circled the wagons and tried to defend him. But, they eventually backed off as the consensus was against him. Loved it!

She interrupted Trump way too many times, and she axed the slanted, biased questions we all expected, but she did ax slow joe some tough questions.

Here are joe's answers.

C'mon, C'mon, C'mon, C'mon, C'mon, C'mon, C'mon, C'mon.

Joe received the questions and rehearsed the answers. Watch the debate again. It is obvious.

Comcast gave Ms Welker instructions about what to avoid.

Nonetheless, she was the best — and even better if Comcast treated her like an independent thinker.

NBC is Comcast. Comcast is the nation’s #3 telecom provider.
CNN is ATT. ATT is the nation’s #1 telecom provider.

On RSBN’s post-debate show, O’Reilly had the balls to mention Comcast. So that makes about 5 us now — me, 2 other FReepers, Trump, and O’Reilly.

Google & Twitter are nothing compared to ATT & Comcast. But keep bitchin’ about Google, Twitter, and FB... I get it, they’re shiny objects.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I listened to the Blaze. He had Louder with Crowder. WHO pointed out all the QUESTION she stopped and examined TRUMP on and hardly ever did the same to BIDEN! I am not a news anchor. Crowder is, he is an expert. Her pointer out a lot of things I would have never picked up on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Faqmtbt-sNk&feature=share...
