Yeah, oil won't be "gone" until 2050 according to them. Now I would guess if that were to play out it wouldn't just suddenly "stop" on 1/1/2050. It would take years of squeezing and crippling the industry to gradually wind it down to nothing.

Therefore, to claim that it will be "gone" by 2050 absolutely means that jobs in that industry are unsafe even today.
