Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine trial is fully enrolled, 37 percent of participants are minorities: Company anticipates that it may have sufficient data to seek a regulatory OK in November.

Moderna, the biotechnology firm partnering with the National Institutes of Health to develop a coronavirus vaccine, announced Thursday that it has fully enrolled its trial, with 30,000 participants — more than a third of whom are minorities.

The coronavirus vaccine trials have been closely watched to ensure they reflect the diversity of the U.S. population at a minimum, and Moderna’s enrollment was slowed in September to recruit more minorities. A fifth of the participants are Hispanic and 10 percent are Black, according to data released by the company. People over 65, a population also at high risk for coronavirus, make up 25 percent of the study population.

“I think that we have done quite well — I think the demographics of the Moderna trial have markedly changed,” Larry Corey, a virologist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center said in an interview last week. Corey is heading up the clinical trials under Operation Warp Speed, the federal effort to speed vaccine development.

“We hope that we continue to improve upon that, this is the first trial,” Corey said. ‘There are two others in the field, and two more scheduled to go — so our journey in covid-19 vaccines is just starting.”

The vaccine industry is evil and cares only about profits

They have the whole medical establishment and the political class behind them you’ll hear talk about vaccines and garbage like that every single day of the week

Plain and simple vaccines do not work on almost all viruses the only ones they work on are very large and very old viruses like measles and like smallpox

The vaccine industry worldwide has murdered millions of people and ruin the lives and turned into vegetables dozens of times more

Vaccine industry makes himself immune from lawsuits for all the lives that they ruin for the people who they kill

All you need to know is there’s one political party it’s all for forcing you to stick needles in your arms -the Democrats

That's a key point and I think few Americans are aware of it. Vaccine makers enjoy a near-total exemption from product liability. An exemption not enjoyed by any other American industry.

So...if vaccines are so wondeful, so safe...why did they insist on getting that?

Ignorance runs deep here - do you like polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, and meningitis? Take away the liability deferment and that’s what you get. But don’t let that stop you - keep whining.

the incidence of adverse reactions to these vaccines are in the range of one per million treated but they can be deadly and liability lawyers will sue for tens of millions. So much so that no manufacturer would provide these vaccines. The US govt established a mechanism to reimburse these patients. By providing the liability waver the general public is protected.

Why mention the 37% number? Whites account for about 63% of the population in the US, so that number is right on the mark. Black are 13% of the population, so 10% is a touch low but not that far off. Hispanics are 16% of the population, so 20% is a touch high but also not that far off.

Going to be interesting in a generation or so to see how they are going to count by race with the increase of mixed race children being born in the country.

Doesn’t Bill Gates own a substantial part of Moderna ?

RE: Doesn’t Bill Gates own a substantial part of Moderna ?

I don’t know about ownership, but the Gates Foundation FUNDS the company’s vaccine research.

Giving a liability deferment to other industries would do many wonderful things across our entire economy.

But no, only vaccine makers get one.

Why should they be privileged characters?

(full disclosure: I had a neighbor in 1975 who became permanently disabled as a result of his government swine flu shot)

I have a former colleague. She is a white girl from rural Pennsylvania.

Her husband is from the Caribbean. He is visibly black.
But that is the maritime crossroads of the world, so his ethnic background includes Indian, Chinese, etc.

Their children could quite literally tick-off every box on that stupid census form.

They didn’t insist on getting anything. It was anti-vaxxers flooding the courts with nonsense lawsuits for mystery illnesses that didn’t exist, threatening to run the vaccine makers out of business, which resulted in Congress stepping in with the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act.

The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program requires no medical proof that a vaccine caused an injury to pay out money. It only requires you make a credible claim that a vaccine injured you. And the payouts average six-figures. And with that very low bar to get paid and very high incentive to make a claim, they pay out about 1 claim per 1,000,000 vaccinations.

So yes, vaccines are plenty safe. But vaccine makers aren’t safe from nuisance suits from anti-vaxxers trying to sue them out of existence with nonsense claims. Same as gun makers aren’t safe from nuisance suits from anti-gunners trying to sue them out of existence, which is why Congress passed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act in 2005. Same reasons; same result. Safe, effective, legal products being sold on the market in an industry with strategic importance but lunatics try to sue them all out of business.

They aren’t alone. Gun makers got immunity from the exact same sorts of nuisance suits in 2005 with the PLCAA. Probably a half dozen examples overall.

Trump needs a pre-election announcement on a vaccine.

Agreed. Things had been looking great for that, but the FDA has pulled out all the stops trying to hold up progress with brand new requirements that have never existed before.

On the one hand, you’ve got Democrats and anti-vaxxers claiming the whole thing is rushed and untested, and on the other hand you have the FDA who’s not just enforcing all the normal requirements, but adding new ones out of the blue every time somebody gets close to gaining an EUA. They’re literally just making up requirements now. And they’ve held up Oxford for over a month for one participant who apparently had a bad reaction in the UK. Wasn’t even an American in the US trial. The UK authorities allowed the UK trials to continue after determining it was safe, but the FDA has kept them locked up the whole time.

Guess they were a little too close to finishing before the election.

Cuomo the nursing home killer issued a statement today to the FDA to tell them not to rush on a vaccine. (Until after the election)

Which might be fine so long as they can’t compel you to take the vaccine.

If they can compel you, and you end up paralyzed like my neighbor, and you can’t sue, where does that leave you?

These people are obviously racists. It should be at least 90% minorities to address previous racism.

With a massive compensation package from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program?

And there are very few places where any vaccines are actually compulsory.

What's in this “vaccine” outside of the aborted child's cells they used to create it?

Alleged virus kills .026%, but the global CONVID propaganda kills 100% of the brains of those who believe it.

“And there are very few places where any vaccines are actually compulsory.”

except for all schoolchildren who go to publicly funded schools, which would be a few hundred thousand places throughout the 57 states, and includes tens of millions of people ...
