Target: Your Gas Car. Bribes haven’t worked, so now Democrats want to mandate electric autos.

Some readers thought we exaggerated when we reported on California’s plan to ban the sale of gas-powered cars by 2035. Well, now there’s a bill in Congress promising the same for everyone in America.

Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley and four other Democrats introduced legislation Tuesday that would mandate 100% of cars sold in 2035 be electric and 50% of new cars by 2025—a Biden Presidency from now.

Last year a mere 2% of car sales were electric, notwithstanding the $7,500 federal tax credit, state subsidies and other incentives such as car-pool lane access. Kamala Harris declined to put her name on the bill, though the climate change plan she proposed last year also banned the sale of gas-powered cars by 2035.

Progressives have been hyping electrics for years, and that’s fine if consumers want to buy them. But EVs haven’t caught on with consumers because they’re expensive and most can’t travel farther than 250 miles without a multi-hour recharge. Automakers say batteries are improving and becoming less expensive, but they are still out of price range for 99% of Americans.

GM on Tuesday drew oohs and aahs when it unveiled an electric Hummer with a 350-mile range and other spiffy features. The price tag: $112,595. Folks in middle America can buy a home for less.

Well, since California beefed up their grid and have more electricity than they know what to do with, it makes total sense...

Merkely and Wyden, both demonrat senators who wouldn’t be where they are today if not for mail in voting and massive fraud when “the voters tes are counted.”
Merkely is up for re-election and lied to the public trying to pass himself off as farm boy from eastern Oregon. No one there votes for him, so go figure.
He has marched with protesters, screwed his voting base and hopefully will have to retire in the middle of Antifa/BLM run commie Portland.

I like to see the numbers on how this would affect electrical usage—and where all the electrical generation is supposed to come from...

States like California can barely keep the electric grid running now.

Roomy. too. So after the economy tanks and you lose your job and become homeless, you can live in your electric Hummer--with its dead battery.

I foresee mountains of dead batteries polluting the water with acid. We will turn into china fast and start competing for who can manufacture the deadliest virus.

“...unveiled an electric Hummer with a 350-mile range“

Which takes hours to charge. Or get 400 miles of range in 10 minutes from a gas powered version

Neither one probably couldn’t figure out how to change a tire.

When my parents were living, I frequently made the trip between Chicago and St. Louis: 300 miles, 5-6 hours. Not a long drive. If I had an electric, I could go only 5/6 of the way before I would run low on juice and have to look for a charging station in the middle of nowhere, and then sit for several hours while it charged. No thanks. When Dad died, I kept his 2009 Grand Marquis. I think I am going to try to keep it running until they take away my driver’s license.

Now lets see if I can get this straight...
45 years ago POLLUTION was causing THE COMING ICE AGE, so we were told to use mass transit.
45 years ago it was “Peak Oil” and we soon would have no gasoline.
40 years ago it was the Hole in the OZONE! and we had to get rid of our air conditioned autos.

30 years ago it was Glo-Bull warming caused by CO2 pollution and power plants.

20 years ago it was Y2K! Computer collapse!

Now it is Climate Change and pollution which is causing the world to “heat up!”

One wonders if there is a group looking for something to frighten the public with next year.

I’m building a 545 CID 1969 Lincoln with zero emission controls. Will that be California compliant in 2035?

0 to 60 in 3 seconds...however that drains the battery in those 3 seconds, letting you driving no where.

Yes. They'll say paper money has germs and you must switch to digital currency. All of which they'll control and steal from your account continuously. Because they're concerned about your health and well-being.

There’s a house in my neighborhood with a full-size pickup and a heavily modified Dodge Challenger in the driveway.

And yet there’s a bunch of Biden signs on the lawn.

Don’t those morons even think for a moment about what they’re voting for?

Never mind. I know the answer already.
