Colorado's record-breaking wildfires show "climate change is here and now"
CBS "News" ^ | October 20, 2020 | By Jeff Berardelli

The Cameron Peak fire, a few miles west of Fort Collins, Colorado, has engulfed over 200,000 acres and it's still growing. It has now become the biggest wildlife in Colorado history.

This year Mother Nature has supplied us with smoking-gun evidence to prove what climate scientists have been warning about for decades. The scorched-earth impacts of climate change have arrived.

In a letter the editor published in the journal Global Change Biology, two of the world's foremost experts on wildfires conclude that the "[r]ecord-setting climate enabled the extraordinary 2020 fire season in the western United States."

"Our 2020 wildfire season is showing us that climate change is here and now in Colorado. Warming is setting the stage for a lot of burning across an extended fire season," says Dr. Jennifer Balch, professor of fire ecology and director of Earth Lab at the University of Colorado Boulder.

"Even as a scientist studying extreme weather & wildfire in a warming climate, I was shocked by how fast #CalwoodFire roared down the Colorado Front Range foothills," Daniel Swain, a climate scientist at UCLA, wrote on Twitter, posting video of a swirling vortex of smoke.

Examining all the evidence, it's clear why conditions are extraordinarily flammable this fall. It's a compound issue of short-term natural climate variability layered on top of fundamental changes to the long-term climate from global warming.

Is this where they had 20 fires start in an hour?

Just wait until these lunatics find out that humans emit CO2 24/7 ....

How about we forward these simple questions to the ‘uh-steamed’ scientists?:

1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.

2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.

3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.

4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.

5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.

6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.

7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.

We’ll be standing by for the answers.

Exactly.

They NEVER can name the ‘correct’ amount of anything, for their socialist/commie programs/ideologies.

Because, as we have seen with other welfare programs....it’s NEVER enough. They ALWAYS grow their programs.

Interesting about dryness.

One other thing, Colorado is considered “high desert”. Someone should look up the meaning of the word desert and apply it to a lot of the area in the west.

Meanwhile over the next 16 days, there is some snow forecast for Colorado and rain totaling an inch. No luck for cal though, dry.

Or is it a showcase that environmental terrorism is here and now?
Don’t know, don’t live in Colorado or the west, but things sure seemed to go big this year.

The article maintains that a great snowpack was severely reduced by heat and evaporation >>causing atypical dryness >> allowing these fires.

The amount of water / moisture on the planet is fixed, however. This year it’s simply somewhere else, to eco-freaks displeasure. Moisture was sucked up into clouds and carried to some other place.

Funny how mother nature won’t obey our wishes...or stay on our schedule. I’m sure climate change advocates have a way to make her obey.

Sort of like the buhzillions that have been spent on “correcting” racial inequality(now known as cystemic* racism) since CRA1964 and now nearly all major corporations are giving more buhzillions in an effort to “correct” systemic racism.(not tax dollars but maybe share holders dollars) WTH? Why yes Virginia, they really are that deranged.

*I do believe I will always use CYSTemic henceforth.

The material of forest fires is a sustainable energy source.

Toss people off welfare and let them be useful.

I was in that part of Colorado last year. The majority of the forest is dead from a pine bark beetle outbreak. That wouldn’t have anything to do with it? Of course, the warmists say that the beetles are from the winters being too mild. Like there never has been an outbreak before...

Imagine if there was no country needing to buy Arab oil.

How will the Arabs get money for life-saving drugs and food?

“The outdated 195 nation state system can’t deal with these global problems. I suggest we create some sort of sovereign global organization in their place.”

Great idea! We could call it something like the “New World Order”; that’s got a nice ring to it.

The democrap homosexual governor of Colorado, Jared Polis (D), is trying to deflect the fact that Colorado has never had wildfires burns for months on end like they have this year. Polis hasn’t provided the resources to fight these fires, instead, he is using them as political propaganda.

What it shows is that one nitwit lighting an illegal campfire in the mountains and a forest service and state government that refuse to clear hundreds of thousands of beetle-kill trees can ruin thousands of lives.

You can add to that the fact that it is ALWAYS dry in Colorado. Always.

Yup. He's been missing in action on these fires, letting them burn on and on with little help or even comment. But hey, now that Boulder County is on fire, maybe he'll wake up.

From the British Guardian newspaper:

“If we increase generation by about 20 times from today’s levels, it will give us sufficient electricity almost all the time, significantly reducing the problems arising from the unpredictability and intermittency of most renewable sources.”

“Is such as massive expansion actually possible? I have calculated that the UK would achieve this target by devoting about 5% of its maritime zone to offshore wind, 2% of the land area to solar panels and about 12% to onshore wind.”

If I took the time to learn, I would post pictures I took from that area two weeks ago.
I took a couple of pictures showing what the forest looks like with dead trees strewn around lying on top of each other.
There are millions of dead trees all over Colorado and other states just on the ground and standing.
Bill Clinton’s anti logging policies have prevented these trees from being harvested and forests cleared of fuel .

THIS is what is causing the fires , not the half baked climate change wacko ideas.

So, wildland arsonists are setting fires because climate change is making them? Whatever.
