Biden was asked about it and said it was a “smear campaign”:

Dont expect a magnanimous response from the Posts competitors. Rather than investigating the level of involvement the leading candidate for president had in his familys influence-peddling business, some media outlets have chosen instead to focus their reporting on whether some journalists were afraid to touch the Biden email story before the Post published it.
But so far the stories by the Posts Emma-Jo Morris and Gabrielle Fonrouge are still standing. Unless and until former Vice President Joe Biden or a member of his family wants to argue that the emails are fakes, isnt there a responsibility for all journalists covering the campaign to acknowledge the Post reporting and demand answers about the lucrative foreign sales of the Biden name?
The stages of establishment media grief also include efforts to pretend that the story is not really about Joe Biden or corruption and that the Bidens were not really selling what they appeared to be selling.
The story of Hunter Bidens involvement with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma isnt a scandal about his father, as the Trump campaign claims, but part of a personal tragedy for the vice presidents son, says David Ignatius of the Washington Post. Actually, its a tragedy for America and the world when the model of lawful, constitutional governance is represented overseas by a vice president who is trailed by relatives with their hands out. ]

They were OH SO WRONG and the FIB CYA and DemonRats KNEW it but planted lies in the NYet Times and WashPoo to further their investigation into Trump.
Do they really need too? The msm is doing it for them. The situation is that we have two truths depending on what news to watch/read.
No but we found out he ordered a chocolate ice cream cone.
chortle.
The Clinton/Obama/Biden Criminal Crime Cartel, operating with the belief that the socialist press will ignore their serial crimes.
Doesn’t have to. The media is taking care of it.
Media working up sob stories about a family with a crack addict. Very sympathetic to Joe ones.
And, of course, no one can prove Joe was involved- at least not before the election.
Amazing the effort and time the media will put in to find any hint of dirt on a Republican.
A "smear" is not necessarily untrue... It implies 'unsubstantiated', but it still could be true.
In this case I think there is a lot of 'substantiated' evidence (Biden's history of slime, and a knack for he and his family getting extremely rich while he's been in the Government. As well as the famous video where he effectively got the Ukrainian Prosecutor, who was going after Burisma, fired).
But the claim that this is a 'smear campaign' is not a denial of the accusation.
Not that Biden has any compunction of lying bald-face to the camera.
Here are some current Yahoo News stories headlines:
"Fox News passed up chance to run Hunter Biden email story amid credibility concerns, reports say"
"Giuliani gave Hunter Biden story to New York Post because 'nobody else would take it' at face value"
"Fox News rejected Hunter Biden exposé; New York Post writer refused to put his name on it: reports'
The media stonewalling continues. I don't remember them being concerned about "credibility" when the phoney Trump Russia story first came out.
What did the University of Pennsylvania get for the more than $900,000 it has paid Joe Biden?
The former vice president collected $371,159 in 2017 plus $540,484 in 2018 and early 2019 for a vaguely defined role that involved no regular classes and around a dozen public appearances on campus, mostly in big, ticketed events.
Amazing what grifters the Bidens are.
The Sulzberger family must realize that their legacy has been shattered. The New York Times has shredded whatever is left of its integrity. suspect they, like Dorsey at Twitter, have lost control of their rabid, destructive, leftist employees.
Is Hunter going to be on stage with his daddy election night?
Do any real Americans, in their right minds, have the will to BELIEVE ANYTHING DAVID IGNATIUS SAYS...ANYTHING, I SAID.
That traitorous, vile, corrupt DAVID IGNATIUS should be in prison for publishing the lies that were leaked to him for the past three years.
THAT, is a name that will live in infamy.
