I think the reason he didn’t retrieve the computer on time is that Hunter is lazy. He’s got money but no incentive to get out of bed in the morning other than to screw, do drugs or hook up another deal for Daddy.

My theory is that Hunter was crazy and high as a kite on meth when he dropped the laptops off, and forgot he even did that, probably later thinking the laptops were stolen...but couldn’t make a police report because of what was on the laptops.
I don’t know of course, just my guess.
