In a call with Trump campaign staff Monday, President Trump tore into the nation's leading infectious diseases expert and coronavirus task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci, saying people have become tired of "Fauci and all these idiots" warning about the risks of COVID-19.
"People are tired of hearing Fauci and all these idiots, these people, these people that have gotten it wrong," the president told his staff Monday during a call on the state-of-play of the race. "Fauci's a nice guy. He's been here for 500 years. He called every one of them wrong. And he's like this wonderful guy, a wonderful sage, telling us how he said, 'Do not wear face masks' that's a number of months ago."
Mr. Trump said if the White House had listened to Fauci, the U.S. would have "500,000 deaths."
"I have a list of 15 things, this guy. And yet, we keep him. Every time he goes on television, there's always a bomb," he said. "But there's a bigger bomb if you fire him."
The president went on to declare, "We saved 2.2 million people. If we didn't do what we did, and close it and do just now we're opening it. But we'd never close it again. It would never close, it'll never close again. Because we know the disease," an apparent reference to his partial ban on travel to the U.S. from China early this year.
"But Fauci, if we listened to him, we'd have 700, 800,000 deaths right now," the president said.

Trump knows spies and leakers are always on these calls.
Nah just Trump speaking his mind.
No matter whether one agrees with things he says or not sometimes, it’s so refreshing a politician saying what they truly think all the time.
fauci will NEVER quit.
He has stated so and I believe him.
ego the size of a galaxy
Just Trump telling the truth, as usual...
CNN is calling this, “baseless”.
“If he’s a disaster why did you leave him in charge for so long?”
Fairly or unfairly that’s the question everyone will be asking.
Nov. 4.
I get the sense that Trump is incredibly patient with “nice guys”. If you’re an a-hole like The Mooch you’re out of there faster than poop through a goose.
I think criticism is warranted, but with examples, rather than depending on consumers of the president's tweets to know the reason Mr. Trump is saying these things. This may backfire, to a degree.
Trump has had Fauci’s back at various points during this.
Including on masks.
Fauci has never had his.
Just hold your powder for 2 more weeks, Mr. President...
Then, you can get rid of clowns like Fauci...
Just direct the head of NIH to send the good Dr. Fauci to read in the library...no more responsibilities...
He will either read or retire...!
A bigger problem is Fay Wray at the FBI...he serves at the pleasure of the President...
Put in Rudy as interim if Schmucky or the Turtle give you any trouble...
Then, eventually move Ratcliffe over to Director...he’s got your back!
I was thinking the same thing.
I would make Ric Grenell interim FBI Director.
He did one helluva job as interim DNI.
And the spectacle of watching the Left attack the gay guy would be worth the price of admission.
Yes, Grenell would also be a great choice...
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Just a response to FauXi’s attacks on the Administration on “60 minutes” the night before.
Trump is going over this again at the rally.
“He’s a very nice guy with a very bad arm”.
“You have to understand him. He’s a promoter.”
“the nation’s leading infectious diseases expert”
It is exceptionally irritating to hear the media continue with this little statement. Faucci is not the leading expert but is the head of the office whose responsibility is infectious diseases. He is a bureaucrat, has not practiced for ages and does not keep up with the real current science and studies. There are others who are more expert, but they do not parrot the dem talking points. In my opinion, Fauci is a partisan hack who puts science secondary to politics.
Have you ever noticed how many politicos, politicians and government “workers” despise President Trump? Maybe he must be somewhat cautious.
Trump should either fire Fauci or stop complaining about him.
