Harris County tried to make voting easier during the pandemic. Why Texas Republicans fought every step of the way.

A potential nightmare for Texas Republicans began to materialize early Tuesday, taking the form of tens of thousands of voters lined up at the polls in Harris County.

By day's end, the number of ballots cast on the first day of early voting in Houston and its suburbs had shattered all records.

Another record was set on Tuesday.

The early numbers are almost certainly bad news for Texas Republicans, the Texas Tribune reports. Control of the White House depends on Republican domination of Texas, which in turn relies on containing a voting surge in the nation's third most populous county, which is only solidifying as a Democratic stronghold.

Much of the Democrats' dream of turning Texas blue is pinned on ramping up turnout in Houston and other Texas cities where voters, many of whom are people of color, trend heavily their way.

I voted at the courthouse yesterday and asked the clerk if I could have a couple of ballots for my two dogs out in the van. She smiled.

Harris County tried to make voter fraud easier, you mean. Ballot harvesting is rampant here and is operated from within the Harris County government. The dominant Democrat on the commissioners court, Rodney Ellis, heads a massive ballot harvesting scheme. The new county clerk’s plan to mass-mail absentee ballot applications was a part of that scheme.

Harris County’s election is being run by the DNC Finance Chairman. No joke.

The ELECTED official (Democrat) in this role resigned out of “fears of catching the COVID”.

The Democrat majority Commissioners Court appointed her replacement and looked directly to party ranks.

We know that people will not line up for five minutes to see a Biden Rally but will line up for days to see a Trump Rally. I expect the same for voting.

Only Trump voters are willing to line to vote.

(DNC) Finance Chair Chris Hollins... Appointment as Harris County Clerk (2020 Houston vote fraud coming!)
Texas Democrats ^ | May 20, 2020 | no byline

https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3846887/posts

Today, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and commissioners of Harris County appointed Texas Democratic Party Finance Chair Chris Hollins as Harris County Clerk.

The county clerk is the county’s chief election officer and is responsible for administering elections in Harris County, the third-largest county in the country.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa and Vice Chair Dr. Carla Brailey issued the following statement:

“The Texas Democratic Party is proud Chris Hollins will take the next step in his commitment to public service and the people of Texas.

“Chris will build on the progress started by Dr. Diane Trautman and will be a true leader for the Harris County Clerk’s office, defending the right to participate in our democracy for all voters.

“There is nothing more important than the sanctity of the vote. With so much at stake this year, Harris County voters will have a proven leader who is ready to fight for their right to fair, accessible, and safe elections.

Texas Democratic Party Finance Chair Chris Hollins issued the following statement:

“I am honored to serve as the next Harris County Clerk and to provide vital services to the residents of Harris County during this challenging time. I cannot thank Dr. Trautman enough for her service to Harris County, and I look forward to working with her talented staff.

“This November, our office will administer the most consequential election of our lifetime amid a global health pandemic. The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy, and I will work tirelessly to ensure that Harris County residents can exercise that right safely, conveniently, and with the peace of mind that their vote will be counted.”

The Rat machine does what the Rat machine always will do.

Meanwhile the question remains if all of those registered Republican voters are just going to sit at home again as they did in 2018.

So many talk radio stations yet people don’t go vote.

Hollins is a low-rent car wreck lawyer (unusual for a Yale Law grad) who I had never heard of him before he was appointed county clerk a couple months ago. That’s saying something, because I’ve been practicing in Houston for a decade and know pretty much every significant plaintiffs lawyer.

He’s the sort who signs up clients, settles the easy ones, and then refers the serious cases out to real lawyers.

According to a recent lawsuit by a former client, he gets his cases by paying off tow truck drivers and body shops to solicit clients for him. That’s a major no-no—a felony in Texas, in fact. I wonder why the AG hasn’t looked into this..

Voting isn’t difficult in the first place! Why do democrats and liberals think minorities are too stupid to do what most of society does anyhow?
