Congress, and its committees, have no law enforcement powers.

If Trump had the power to fire Wray, he would have fired him long ago. That he has the AUTHORITY to do so does not mean his lawful orders will be obeyed, and they usually are not.

Wray has 17 days to tough it out, and thetre is an excellent chance all of this will disappear.

Ron Johnson is bluffing with a weak hand, and everyone knows it.

They don’t need law enforcement power. Ron Johnson has a very strong oversight hand and isn’t playing it. All he has to do is tell Wray fully cooperate with this committee or we will support your immediate removal and quick confirmation of your replacement. Then go down a level in the FIB org chart and do the same. Do the same with Main DOJ. Job done.

Instead we get run out the clock beltway theater from the Trump hating GOP Senate. They will never validate Trump’s positions because that will increase his political capitol and ability to advance the MAGA agenda.
