Kristen Welker, upcoming presidential debate moderator, has deep Democrat ties

All eyes are turning to NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker as she prepares to host the third and final presidential debate Thursday.

President Trump and Joe Biden will square off at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., in a 90-minute debate starting at 9 p.m.

Welker, 44, has been the White House correspondent at NBC News since 2011, after working as a news reporter in Rhode Island.

Welker comes from an established Democratic family — who have poured cash into party coffers, and to Trump opponents, for years.

Her mother, Julie Welker, a prominent real estate broker in Philadelphia, and father, Harvey Welker, a consulting engineer, have donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates and close to $20,000 to Barack Obama alone.

There was also $3,300 for Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign and $2,100 for Hillary Clinton’s doomed 2016 presidential effort against Trump. Another $7,300 was contributed to the Democratic National Committee between 2004 and 2020.

In 2012, Welker and her family celebrated Christmas at the White House with the Obamas.

Welker deleted her Twitter account last week, heading off a more complete look at her past statements and views. It was later restored.

“Anyone who’s ever dealt with Welker knows she’s an activist, not a reporter. The White House press team views her the same way they would AOC or Pelosi if they walked in the office,” a senior White House official told The Post.

I’m just anticipating the mighty win on Election Day. All the evil and stacked deck forces arrayed against President Trump and yet he wins. Prayers for an epic crushing victory on Election Day.

Their dad should not be in this position in the first place. When someone knows that every debate is sure to be an attempted massacre, at some point in time that person has to demand fairness. (But that’s just me.)

How did it come to pass that these people were selected as the moderators? Who in particular - names please - made these choices? Who on the GOP side agreed to them?

There should be no moderators. Just a timekeeper with a kill switch. President, you have 15 minutes to make your case. Challenger, you have 15 minutes to refute. 5 minute break. Challenger, you have 15 minutes to make your case. President, you have 15 minutes to refute. 5 minute break. Repeat process for 3 hours. Last one out of the studio turn out the lights.

“Emily Compagno”

Yes. She would be excellent. 1000 times smarter than any of the prior “journalists”, and she seems to be pretty objective when it comes to issues.

Hubby and I were discussing this very thing today. I believe he contacted the White House expressing disgust.

“... has to demand fairness....” No doubt the majors would all agree with an “Aw shucks, okay.” :-)

I don’t know how it would play, but I’d like to see Trump respond to unfair questions, for example his “there are good people on both sides” remark, with something like: When I have done nothing but disavow white supremacists, and anyone can go online and find my full remarks, I have to wonder about you. Are you lazy? Did you not do your research? Are you stupid? How could you not know this? I don’t know which it is. I guess we’ll see by your other questions. And why do I get questions like this and Joe gets questions like ‘Will you take the Covid vaccine?’ The audience can see what you’re doing. You obviously don’t think Joe has the capacity to answer tough questions.”

How many times do Republicans have to step on this rake before they learn the lesson?

Okay, so if they picked Pelosi to moderate you would go ahead and do the debate? From what I can see they are going ahead this and even letting them use the bullet items lifted directly from Biden’s web page as the debate topics. It is suicide.

You're asking the wrong person about going ahead. The Trump campaign agreed to go along with the debate commission on its terms, so they have to go ahead unless it's an egregious change like turning the second debate into a virtual one. Now, I don't have a problem with them calling into question the moderator's bias, but that's really for the benefit of other people because they knew she was biased the moment she was announced and didn't object. I don't know why they did that no more than I can answer why they agreed to a town hall knowing that Savannah Guthrie will be hostile except to speculate that President Trump believes he will prevail in any contest, biased or not.

I do think it is greatly to his credit when he engages the bias head on by sticking to his policies in his answers unlike a lot of Republicans who fold and puddle the floor when challenged. It shows the remaining three thoughtful voters out there that the President has confidence in himself and his leadership of the country, and isn't afraid to engage anyone. No different than when he went to that black church in Detroit in 2016. He didn't go to pander, he went to engage. Maybe that's the aim behind saying yes to obviously biased events, and if it is, all the more reason to go into this next and last debate to state his case forcefully and effectively—just as he did in his summation at the town hall which was fantastic—whether it's against the moderator or Plugs.

She’s the one who asked Trump if he was rattled when a press briefing was interrupted by a shooting near the White House. He said, “do I look rattled” and she falsely reported he said, “of course “ so why should someone incarnate off reporting what she witnessed first hand be moderating a presidential debate?

She’s been one of the more ridiculous press Corp in briefings I’ve seen

Skip the moderator each has a list of questions and a timer to take turns.
Moderators only serve the biased.
