There may well be legal ramifications from this but there are also psychological ones.
Put yourself in the place of a non-radical but lifelone Democrat who Happily voted for Obama and Hillary and was prepared to mail in your ballot (being safe you know!) and do the same for Sleepy Joe. But then you start hearing these things just weeks before the election...bad things, the kind of badness you expect from Trump and HIS family, but which never seem to actually exist.
What does this do to your determination to vote for Biden? You may remain a democrat and you would never vote for Trump, but maybe this is just a good year to skip voting altogether. Just leave the ballot lie, or toss it and forget about it til 2024 when hopefully they’ll nominate someone who isn’t a crook.
