And, hey, I’m in MA. Roe v Wade means absolutely nothing to the state of MA. But I bet a lot of MA voters don’t even understand that.
If Roe is reversed it will be because the Constitution does not give the federal government the authority to regulate abortion. It's not in the Enumerated Powers. The Constitution reserved the regulation of abortion to the states, like thousands of other issues. Reversing Roe just means the issue reverts to the states. A state like Massachusetts will almost certainly keep abortion legal.
I think a lot of Republican politicians don't want Roe overruled because they know that as the issue is fought in the states careers could be ruined. Now they can say, hey, there's nothing I can do about it.
