Couldn’t some U.S. Marshals show up by now at Twitter HQ soon with arrest warrants for clear violations of their users’ First Amendment rights as American citizens??

Where in the First Amendment does it guarantee the Right to Tweet?

Wise up.

There is no coverage for a private platform.

However, if not consistently following their own internal policy, that is a different beast.

The 1st Amendment forbids government from interfering with free speech (among other things). But that prohibition does not apply to private companies. Altough, companies that receive gov’t contracts or otherwise receive gov’t funding can lose said contracts or funding. I don’t think Twitter falls into either category, though, nor is it a part of the government.

The 1st Amendment has nothing to do with regulating censorship of a private organization, if they want to be akin to a newspaper or a radio station with edited programming. They can censor whomever they want, but also be responsible for ALL the libel and threats and fraud that happens on their journalistic platform.

If they do not want to be subject to such laws, they have to be mere purveyors, and let others worry about the content (being allowed to restrict things like kiddie porn etc. and harassment, just like the phone company is).
