I was just in Target and noticed that the Halloween costume aisles are still full - I remember by this time last year it had been cleaned out - I mean it was fully stocked and didn’t look like a single Halloween costume had even been sold. Not a single person was browsing the aisles.

Same for the cat and dog costumes.

Last week Target sent me an email promoting 20% off Halloween costumes. When they send that in early October you know they’re not making a holiday profit this year.

Halloween is something I would not lose a minute of sleep if it went away forever.

I’ve been in stores. Among my observations:
* candy’s selling, costumes aren’t
* fall themed food is actually more popular from orange icing on cookies to pumpkin flavored everything
* the Halloween sections are smaller than they used to be
* they have already put up some Christmas stuff in the grocery store
* the Christmas section in Lowes’ is bigger than the Halloween

Holidays are verboten by quasiroyal decrees.
