The left lives on “narrative.” In other words, it tells stories. It tells stories about race, gender, criminal violence, and a host of other things. Occasionally, these stories intersect with the facts, but more often than not, they don’t. I mention this because it was the unmistakable difference between fact and narrative that drove Georgia H, a lovely and articulate educator and nurse, to #WalkAway from the Democrat party and its stories. Her video has already garnered 1.1 million views and counting. That’s because she says crucial things about the nature of reality.
“Cognitive dissonance” is a fancy word for simultaneously holding contrary beliefs or understandings, one of which connects with reality and the other of which does not. Over the long run, cognitive dissonance is an unsustainable state. Reality will win.
I know, because I had a WalkAway moment a couple of decades ago when my Democrat belief system crashed headlong into the lies I knew that NPR was telling me. I could either embrace the narrative or embrace the truth. That’s how I became a conservative.
Natan Sharansky, who was probably the most famous refusenik in the Soviet Union during the 1970s, has described how people struggle when they live in a totalitarian society that demands they believe its narrative, even when the realities of their lives brutally and explicitly contradict that narrative. In The Case For Democracy: The Power Of Freedom to Overcome Tyranny And Terror (2004 hardback edition), Sharansky discussed the “doublethink” that drove people mad:
In any place where dissent is banned, society fractures into three groups. One group is composed of those who remain committed to the prevailing order because they agree with it — the true believers.

I concur that she uses “like” much too often, but, her underlying message is sufficiently important to overlook that.
I just finished watching this video—it was excellent. I have a granddaughter only a few years older than Georgia, who was indoctrinated in a so-called conservative university. She was swept away on the gender issue and the racial issue. I sent the video to her and pray she will watch it and see the truth.
I’ve also passed it to many others. Thanks for posting it!
I agree, but I kept hanging in there, because she was sincerely speaking the truth!
There are two or three walk away vids that i need to catch up on. Bet this is one of them.
I think it start with Hollywood, valley girl speak.
Simply SUPERB!!
What an eloquent, brilliant lady. This should be sent far and wide.
Most so called liberals are like her. In their personal lives they act like responsible conservatives, but for some weird reason they support public policies that are the opposite their private ones. I have two daughters like that.
It’s guilting at work. See my tag line.
The entire video is worth watching.
Touches on many many leftist propagandae and dismantles them with her real life experiences.
Glad to have her on the right side.
Wow what an impressive young woman with a brain and heart to match.
That was inspiring an inspiring video and hopefully eye opening for so many.
“either embrace the narrative or embrace the truth”
Agreed. Well worth the time to watch.
I found that annoying too. “”Like’’ is a conditioned linguistic tool implanted in young people to make them soften their real feeling or intent so as not to ‘’offend’’. It’s a measure of self-censorship.
OMG! How is this incredible young woman not married? Shes brilliant, beautiful and big-hearted - and those hands...she could easily cover a full octave or more on the piano keyboard. If I was a guy her age and was lucky enough to go out with her, Id be proposing to her on the first date also. Just think - theres some lucky guy out there right now who will end up spending the rest of his life with this angel.
On a calmer note, with a little polishing of her delivery, she could probably be the next Sarah Palin or even better, the American Margaret Thatcher. Watching this entire video gives me genuine hope for the future.
My wife has a friend who is a teacher. She is younger, very nice and polite but has always been liberal. Today I heard her and my wife speaking and it was like a totally different person. She was going on about how this is the greatest country in the world and Democrats are wrecking it. She is not happy about the Covid situation but she is definitely voting for Trump.
Most conservatives are fearful of going into the lion’s den...nice that we have some.
That said, you’re right. “Rescue Me” with an “800” contact number on posters — telling students that if someone is “attempting to make them feel shame of self loathing, that person could be toxic... not them”. Then have places listed to get help - campus Republican party, Rescue Me centers, etc... AND train our young Republicans in the art of de-programming and helping the wounded...
We really can fight back - and we can get grants to do it...
Her #10 is exactly what actor James Van Der Beek just did. He got fed up with CA regulations & now his family’s left LA & is moving to Texas.
