Technology Is Free And Available On Apple, Android Devices; Gov. Cuomo Assures: It Does Not Track Users' Movements, Collect Data
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — New York, along with other states in the Northeast, are taking the tracking of coronavirus cases to a new level.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday the state has created a new tracing app that will notify residents when they have come in contact with someone who has tested positive.
The app, called COVID Alert NY, is free and is now available on Apple and Android devices.
“(The app) will tell you if you were within six feet of a person who tested positive for 10 minutes,” Cuomo said. “It will tell you if you’re in contact with a COVID-positive person.”
The governor said Larry Schwartz, one of his former secretaries and currently a member of the state COVID-19 Task Force, worked with Bloomberg Philanthropies, Google, Apple, and other companies on the technology.
“As you know, testing is only as good as your contact tracing, right? Testing is to identify a person. So you can isolate and quarantine that person and then find the connections from that person. And that’s contact tracing. We have about 15,000 people statewide who do contact tracing-equivalent disease detectives, but we’ve been looking for a technology-based solution,” Cuomo said.
Obviously, tracking COVID-19 cases is a two-way street. The governor said when someone tests positive the Department of Health will send them a password that will register them within the app. Then, other phones that have downloaded the app will be notified when they come within six feet of the infected person’s phone.

To effectively do this would not all covid positives need to have a tracer implant, something that remains with the individual?
Apple and Google have already installed spyware in your phone to do this. They did it in auto-installs in early September.
How about herpes, HPV, gonorrhea, and syphilis?

This does little to encourage people to go get themselves tested. You will wear the Scarlet Letter ‘C’ on your Google searches forevermore. This is how it looks.
You know how clumsy the Govt. can be with private information.
The spyware was installed without your consent. Check under your settings, it’s now there as a new icon “Exposure Notifications.”
What good does this do? If it’s only 9 minutes, you’re ok? Do they roll off the positive test list after two weeks?
I’m half tempted to start a petition to lobby to lock up COVID-19 people in prisons for six months so others can be kept “safe” from them and thus can “stay healthy.”
I, of course, don’t agree. I am just curious about how people would react.
Such a petition would provide important information about one’s neighbors. Just think if I came to your house and, while you would probably curse me out over this petition, rightfully so, since for all you know I am serious about it, you could take a moment before you do so and scan down the page to see who signed it.

Isn’t this what China does with its social credit program? An alert appears on your phone when you are near an “unacceptable person.”

HIPPA? Just a myth, eh? Now the public can receive alerts re your personal medical information. This is Orwellian.

Not only that but it’s an antibody test. My doctor said, If you tested positive that’s good. They will ask you to donate blood so they can use the antibodies.
Someone hasn’t done their homework on this one.
