Donald Trump Slashes Corporate Outsourcing to India’s H-1B Gig-Workers
Breitbart ^ | 7 Oct 2020 | NEIL MUNRO

Posted on 10/08/2020 8:38:17 AM PDT by NobleFree

President Donald Trump’s H-1B reforms will shrink the Fortune 500’s large-scale use of cheap Indian gig-workers, say opponents and supporters.

The immediate beneficiaries may include thousands of middle-class Americans at the Vanguard Group, Ascension Healthcare, and other companies who have been told they will soon lose their jobs to Indian contract-workers imported by Indian-run staffing companies, such as HCL and Infosys. The staffing H-1B gig-workers comprise seven-in-ten of the more than 600,000 H-1Bs in the United States.

Industry representatives and lawyers are objecting to the new rules, which will dramatically raise the cost of hiring foreign workers and reduce the CEOs’ incentives to sideline young American graduates and mid-career American professionals.

For example, Indian staffing companies that import H-1B workers will only be allowed to keep them in the United States for one year, instead of six years. Also, U.S. companies would have to pay higher salaries to their imported gig-worker programmers, doctors, accountants, and designers.

Opponents of Trump’s rules say they will damage the Indian-dominated outsourcing business.

“It is clear that by erecting significant barriers to third-party worksite placement, DHS [Department of Homeland Security] has decided to make America great again by returning us to the time before contracting out and specialization existed,” immigration lawyer Vic Goel of Goel & Anderson told Forbes for an October 7 article.

[...] Companies will be forced to pay an extra $38,000 to an inexperienced engineer contract-worker in San Jose, California, according to an analysis by the National Foundation for American Policy. That would bump the worker’s salary up from $88,710 up to $127,042. Similarly, employers would have to raise the $53,810 pay for an imported “medical scientist” in Boston up to $66,622, said the foundation, which strongly opposes curbs on visa workers. [...]

Industry representatives and lawyers are objecting to the new rules...

They are the root of the problem. They have twisted H-1B into an immigration tool.

Well, good...but why weren't these reforms put into place in February 2017? We're only a few weeks away from the end of Trump's first term and if Biden wins the election, we all know Harris will have these reforms thrown out the window in the first week of the new administration.

Trump has taken a run at reining-in H1Bs but the courts have intervened.

Now that it appears Judge Barret is a slam-dunk perhaps he’s no longer worried about that.

Yes, there seems to be more talk than action. Too many times Trump has said one thing and his administration and government done the opposite or took steps to undermine and neuter Trump’s actions. H1B should have been ended in January 2017.

Already everybody in Silicon Valley is gearing-up lawsuits over this. Which is what happened when Trump confronted this problem in the past.

Perhaps now he is confident that he’ll have 5 votes at SCOTUS who will have his back in the end.

These Indian and Pakistan workers are almost slave labor. The government should not allow large companies from India to control H1-Bs. If individuals and American companies want to sponsor a H1-B person thats OK. They have to be paid full watch and benefits. But these large Indian outsourcing companies underpay their employees and pass the savings on to American companies getting around the rules. And worse yet. They take up visa that could go to actually good workers who work for smaller American companies. I would say that three quarters of the H1-Bs are from these Indian sweat shops.

Noted on Fox Business (Stuart Varney’s program) they gave the percentage of political donations given to Biden vs. Trump (it was jaw dropping how much Silicon traitors have given to Biden and Demoncrats as opposed to Trump contributions). They’re hoping for a Biden win, bigly.

You have never been in my shoes, as 90% of the recruiters contacting me are Indian and 95% of the competition from other candidates for the same job are the same.

it's not unusual for my name to be the only non-indian name on the list of 40+ candidates for 1 job.
