The City of Philadelphia has announced legal action against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania over gun safety laws.

City officials, including city council leaders and Mayor Jim Kenney announced the lawsuit during a press conference Wednesday afternoon. ---snip---

The lawsuit comes as gun violence reaches historic levels in the city with shooting incidents up 57% over 2019, and the number of shooting victims up 47%. The city also says the number of shooting victims under the age of 18 is up 67% over 2019.

This is how it will go in PA. They will nullify the legislature because they know the Supreme Court is acting like a super legislature.

Do we all remember that Connecticut demanded that everyone turn in their weapons if they weren’t registered back in 2014? About 10 wimps complied.

Do we remember that the Connecticut Nazis said they would be coming around to collect all those rifles? Of course not, and the Nazi media won’t recall that because confiscation never happened.

Why? What happened with the mass confiscation of battle rifles in Connecticut?

Nothing...that’s what.

Leftists are a bunch of gutless worms and will never try to go door-to-door to take your battle rifles. Why? Because they’ll be shot dead.

This will make a fine case to take to SCOTUS.

Someone should inform the loser Mayor that criminals really don’t care what gun laws you pass because they don’t obey them and the local loser DAs don’t press gun related charges anyway.

Pennsylvania Constitution Article I, Section 21. The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.

I see you're still shooting off your mouth in deep blue MI. If the DemonRats take the POTUS/ House/ Senate in 27-37 days, we'll see soon enough if your tough talk holds up in 2021.

The DemonRats/ communists are not stupid. As I have posted before, they won't have to go house to house. There are some DemonRats who would love that, but the leadership won't go for it when there is a better stick to use, i.e., (1) have the Congress pass a bill to legalize a national firearm registry, (2) then digitally codify all ATF Form 4473s into it (doesn't have to be up to date or accurate to be effective), (3) then have the Congress pass another AWB bill without the 10-year sunset provision - at first have it ban the sale of all flavors of the AR-15, then make it retroactive so that all citizens who up to this point own such firearms legally must surrender them at designated depots by a drop-dead date, (4) after the drop-dead date, weaponize the IRS to inflict financial penalties on violators, e.g., freeze bank accounts, SS checks, MediCare/MedicAid benefits, etc., until they surrender their semi-auto rifles.

POTUS Kamela Harris and Beto O'Rourke could very well go down this path. I prefer to delay this scenario for another 4 years by re-electing DJT.

I agree with you.

So many ways to destroy gun owners one individual at a time.
Make a very painful example of each and it will cow the rest.
Despots have used this sort of incrementalism quite successfully for as long as man has been “civilized”.

The IRS is a not so secret state police apparatus. Ditto for the other regulatory monsters of the state.
The power to tax and “regulate” is the power to rule and destroy.

Hear, hear! The unmitigated gall of the city of Philadelphia, a mere political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to even attempt to take such legal action is breathtaking. Perhaps the city should be divided into multiple jurisdictions to carve out a Republican enclave in combination with some of the collar counties. Sometimes political power must be ruthlessly exercised to put such miscreants on their place.

The violence cited isn’t gun violence, it is human violence.

Exactly. "Gun Violence" is an Orwellian term used to turn the political focus to guns, not crime.

It assigns malevolence and volition to inanimate objects.

So...the politicians in Philadelphia declare the city exempt from the Commonwealth and Federal law but then they sue the Commonwealth when it doesn't turn out the way they want.

By filing such a lawsuit and officially admitting there's a problem, they just made the Commonwealth's case that the Philadelphia politicians are liable for the deaths.
